Paperboy Issues...

Well, it looks like it's just turning based on a gear setup. If I mark on the pot gear where the center thinks it is, then pull it off, move the handlebar gear to center, then put the paperboy pot back on, it should work....

Knock yourself out, but I tried this repeatedly for an hour.

Just want to update everyone.

I got the centering issue fixed. Did it like a described above. I loosen the screw holding the small gear to the pot shaft and took it off. Started a game and turned the pot with my fingers until the bike rider was going perfectly parallel with the edge of the sidewalk, then center the handlebars, slide the small gear back down carefully until it meshed with the big gear, then tightened the screw. I had to do it 2-3 times because it was just a TINY bit off to one side or the other when I tested it afterwards, but I finally got my wife to come hold the handlebars still while I tightened the screw, and it's on a perfect alignment now when the handlebars are centered.

I don't think I'm going to be able to do much about the broken spring, but the handlebars ARE returning to center currently, so it might not matter.

The guy wants me to go ahead and fix the marquee light (did last night) and then repair the damage under the control panel and put a new coat of black paint on it. He's passing on new CPO or side art for now, but will probably go that route later....

Well, doesn't this suck.

As any who have been following this thread are aware, I have had the game running for a while now, and have just been finishing up the partial cosmetic resto the guy wants to pay for. Well, tonight I was buttoning it all up, got all the doors locked, and started up a game to do some final testing before delivery tomorrow.

I'm in the middle of the first game, when suddenly - TATATATATATATATATATAT - and my monitor was all screwed up. Yep, you guessed. The flyback just blew. Arcing between the flyback top and the left wall.

So, now I have to find a flyback for a 19" med-res version of the K7000. I don't have a med-res K7000 manual handy, but I don't suppose it uses the same flyback as the standard-res, does it?

Yes. It does.

I do believe it does use the same flyback. I remember buying a brand new one that happens to be sitting on a medium res K7000 chassis sitting on my parts shelf. My problem was with the tube, not the chassis...

Well, it's been a while, but I got my flyback replaced and the customer is back from vacation, so the game is finally getting delivered tomorrow if it doesn't rain.

But - of course - after 3 months of no rain, it's been raining the last couple days, and is scheduled to rain for the next week.

Hmm, just noticed I forgot to replace the coin door lights.....
