My paperboy (out of nowhere) started acting up. It will usually boot to the title screen, and then just constantly reboots after that. Voltages on both boards are correct. I have re-seated all of the socketed chips. The roms are mask roms and my GQ-4X won't/can't read them. The test switch does nothing. Any ideas on where to start? Thanks.

you measured voltage at chips on the boards? I can't vouch for the AR3, because I've never seen one, but I had to use 2 switchers for Championship Sprint because a single unit isn't strong enough to power both of those massive boards. if your power plugs are getting very warm at the boards, then you'll need to boost power.

that said though, it ran with a single switcher, losing half a volt and all, so I'm guessing you need to dig some more. I would clean the interconnect between the boards with an eraser, possibly blast some contact cleaner in the plug portion.

are you able to get it to boot into test mode? I never paid attention to see if error codes pop up on System 2 games.

yes voltage was measured at the chips. i am using a switcher for the top board, and the ar3 for the bottom board. i have replaced the power headers and plugs/pins. the interconnect is very clean. it will not boot to test mode.

I ordered what I needed from you and riptor yesterday. And yours is already shipped and moving through the system. I'll let you know which one makes it first. Thanks for being so quick. I have a soccer team party on Dec 6 and I'd love nothing more than to have PB working by then.

Thanks

Mike Martin
