Paperboy audio II board

Config 1:
  • gold power brick
  • ARIII
  • 5v 3a switcher for CPU board power
Above I thought you said I do need the board pictured below

I mentioned it depended upon the use of an ARIII vs the brick with the switcher. But I had to clarify that later since PB also has an external switcher.
Because PP and CS were conversions for each other, If you have an ARIII no, if you have a switcher, yes.

I think I'm getting terms confused. The 5v switcher is this
That is a 5v switcher, probably replacing the OEM one as it looks like that's mounted next to where the OEM would have been attached to the wooden blocks.

Thanks by way
And these two audio boards are the same thing. See pictures below

Ah, missed this edit.. No those are not the same thing. Left hand side is a 5v 3a switching power supply (PB OEM switching power supply A043168-01). Right hand side is the Audio 2 amplifier board (A043661-01).

So this board in a paperboy with a set up with ARIII, gold brick with 2 big blues I can toss this
Well, I'd rather not see you toss it, but yes it's not needed when the ARIII is used (config 1).

Not sure what you mean by 2 big blues either?

Thank you makes sense now. I hope I didn't frustrate you too much. Still learning. I've had PB for 7 years not working would finally like to see it running.
And I throw nothing away Lol.

No worries. I was re-reading what I was posting and editing because I was realizing that what's in my head isn't always what ends up in the text. So I've got an equal part in it too.

Yes, don't toss it. The thing's I've tossed over the years and regretted. :( The Audio 2 boards are reproduced IIRC but I always prefer to try to stick with OEM if I can. The dual stacked volume pots are NLA, or I couldn't find a replacement anyway. Had to pull it apart and fix it to get sound working on my Cyberball.

Here's to you being successful and playing it soon!

For reference the two big blues
And there you go... Learn something every day. I went back and looked at the schematics and it's right there, I just looked over it.
