Hi everyone!

Is there a project somewhere that is saving the contents/programming of PAL chips in the arcade game boards?

I know of the Atari GALlery site which someone has reverse engineered the protected GALs, but is there a site to document ALL of the various PAL chips?

I'd be happy to try to dump all the unprotected PALs for systems that cross my repair bench but need to know if there's already a project for this. I've tried searching Google but haven't found anything yet.

Thanks!

Where?

I see ROM and PROM images... no PALs.

Here's a version of Ikari Warriors with the pals.

MAME is the place for them and if you have some I'd love to see you submit them or any EPROM and prom dump. It's a lot easier for people such as ourselves to have one centralized location to find these things instead of trying to hunt things down.

I have one of the PALs from Moonwalker to submit as I had a board to repair that had a bad one. Luckily I had another one in for repair at the same time and was able to copy the PAL - it was unprotected.

I replaced it with a GAL and the board is running once more.

Has anyone here submitted a ROM set that can give me some pointers to be successful? I also have the 4Mb ROM set for Mortal Kombat II. All that's on MAME are the 8Mb versions.

You could look at my thread in the repair section regarding my pinball - I was able to actually write a program that in the end, converted the 16 proms mame has for Video Pinball down to the 4 roms my board has.

I then used those 4 images to verify the 4 roms on my board (which match perfectly).

Try here:

Sometimes it takes a few releases for them to roll it in. Provide as much information as you can. Just saying it is from Moonwalker may not be good enough. You'd want to give the part numbers for the board, possibly ROM revisions on the board, etc.
