So I'm going to trim off any rough flaking area's, then I was planning to use a roller to paint the sides flat black. Is this naners or do others do the same?

I don't know about using a roller, but I've used a foam brush and can of this Rustoleum Painters Choice Ultra Cover in flat black on the back before. It worked well. The satin finish might also work well too depending on the cabinet.

Thank you for that I'll probably pick some up tomorrow.

I like that paint, easy to work with. Also got a fresh piece a plexi from Ace. This thing cleaned up nice, some side art would be cool, if I can find it resized for the 2 player.

Looks great!!!
Thanks for the paint suggestion. I went with a 6" foam roller and was careful not to apply too much pressure. It's not perfect but looks very good in the daylight so it should look even better once it's inside.
