I have a recently acquired Asteroids cabinet. The plexiglass has some of the black paint scraping off on the back side. What's the best type of paint to get these clear spots filled in so you don't see the cardboard monitor surround through the holes in the paint?

There's also one larger scratch on the front of the bezel. Can these be polished out? Not sure what kind of plastic this is so not sure what kind of polish I could use.

Is my best bet replacing it with a reproduction (they are not crazy expensive) or are these easy to fix?

I have heard of people using nail polish to touch up paint on the back. With black, it'll be easy because you don't have to color match it. As for the scratch, unless it's huge, I would just live with it, personally.

For glass bezels, like Williams and Midway cabs, I mask off the viewable area, then give it a few light coats of Krylon 0500 Triple thick, followed by a heavy coat. This seals it, and any flaking paint. Then a week or so later i hit it with a bunch of very light coats of matte black, being careful not to let the black reactivate the triple thick.

Results are amazing. I feel that if a bezel is staring to chip its never worth it to touch up any of the colours because you'll never get an exact match, and often times it ends up looking worse. Not to say that its not possible to do so, its just very rare to see a paint touch up job that doesn't look like complete shit. In the end with this process you're left with black "cracks" where the missing paint is, so it shows a little wear. Not something you would do if you're going for the "Factory fresh" look. but it does fir into place on the artwork for games like Joust, Moon Patrol, and Galaga.
