Painting a habitrail

Anything special to do here?

I'm working on a machine that has 1 large habitrail that I'd love to mod by painting it.

Currently it is the usual chrome, but I want to paint it with this:

I'd be worried paint isn't up to the job.

I know some folks get them powdercoated or plated. I've had similar sized parts powdercoated for around $40.

I powder coated all the habitrails and wire ramps in my Congo and they held up well the 2 years I had it. I am not sure how well spray paint would hold up, but I'd use an aluminum primer (or similar) over the polished stainless first.

For those that powdercoated, can you tell me who did it, and the approximate cost?

I am willing to ship if needed.

Also, can powdercoating be done in a high metallic purple?
