I am restoring a Centipede cocktail and have ordered new CPOs.
I was just wondering how most people here treat the metal under the overlay?
Do you usually prime and paint it before applying the CPO? I am assuming rustoleum or sometihng is sufficient.

Either that or powder coat them.

What he said, if it is a game that will have any of the CP showing I will always powder coat. If it is a full wrap CPO I will usually just media blast, prime, and paint. But either way you should always put some kind of protection on the bare metal.

I've heard that if you don't paint or powder coat the panel some of the thinner CPO reproductions will show any discolorations or imperfections underneath and the colors will overall look less brilliant.

It's a full wrap (small panels). I'll just clean it up and paint it.

I think it was powder coated black originally. I'm wondering if white would make the colors any brighter? I ordered the CPOs from MAMEMarquees though, so they should be thick enough to not show through.
