Star Castle has vinyl sides. I have two major repairs to make at the bottom front of this cab. I'd REALLY prefer not to have to re-vinyl both sides being that side art isn't available.

Is there a "method" of feathering paint to vinyl where it would be difficult to detect? I'd love to be able to make the repairs then paint the area and somehow mate it with the edge of the existing vinyl.

Any suggestions?

You would use a filler like bondo on the vinyl edge and sand smooth, then paint. Issue would be matching the textures though between the paint and vinyl but I'm sure it can be done.

I was thinking about doing something similar with a Nintendo cab (paint to enamel).

pRok did a tutorial on exactly what you are asking (at least from memory that's what it was). Doesn't look like the link is working. I think he used Evercoat Metal Glaze.

I remember this as well. It worked out really nice. Brian still doesn't have everything up on his new site that he had on the old one. You can try the wayback machine. His old site was www.tutankham.com

Well hell.....I'll look....

Here it is:

Not quite what you are doing, but may work. The problem that you are going to have is the "texture" or whatever the hell it is with a Star Castle. I am interested in seeing how things go though. Both my Star Castle and Armor Attack need a little work.

That is what I am likely going to have to do... take a look:

Yes, evercoat will do exactly what you want assuming you can get a good match with the paint. Much easier to get a smooth finish than with Bondo. I used it along the edges of my Star Wars Cockpit restoration.
