Just wanting to get some opinions on what people think about painting or powder coating metal control panels before adding a new overlay. I have some upcoming projects and am on the fence about what to do. Thanks

I have converted to powdercoating all my metal CP's. They media blast the whole thing first, so no overlay stripping needed, which is a huge plus for me. The results are fantastic, the underside is clean and fresh, and the new overlays stick the first time, every time. Also, if you need to reposition, you don't have to worry about pulling up poorly adhered spray paint. Can't go wrong.

I just repainted my CP for my Xevious with Rust-Oleum semi gloss and had great results. I sanded it to metal, primed, and then painted. I let it set a week or so for the paint to really harden.

Turned out really well. I have access to a powder coater through work, but I haven't used them only because I'm afraid they'll lose my stuff. I mean, anything can happen to one part and I only have one each.

I powder coat all my metal parts. Mainly for the durability (wont scratch) and longevity. Also the CPO seems to stick very well. Just my 2 cents.

Ditto to OTTOgd's question. How much do you guys pay? Where do you find someone that can do this type of work? Yellow pages under what? I'm looking to refinish the metal pieces (coin door, marque retainers) from my Donkey Kong.

I have a large batch in to the powder coater at this moment, should be done by tomorrow. 5 coin doors with separate frames, 3 CP's, and several marquee and bezel brackets. My last 2 batches ran $75 and $85 dollars, and were both comprised of 20+ pieces. I guess I would look in the yellow pages under powder coating? Here's the website for the dudes I use:
