Ok, I have a cab that is in good condition but was painted with the textured style paint. Even though it looks alight, I'm not a huge fan of this. I want to strip it down and can't decide if I should paint it or laminate it. I plan on keep this game (I think) and want it to look as good as possible. It is a NBA Jam in a Konami 4-player cab and thing of going with either red, white or black for the cab. So, which would you do? Which looks better? Laminate it or paint it?

A faux melamine vinyl like thisoldgame has would be best. But only if you do it right and that means a ton of surface prep. And if you want a non-textured vinyl you are pretty much stuck with black I'd imagine? Not sure what others stock.

As for laminate I used it on a cab once. Not a huge fan of it. If it were that or painting using a HVLP I'd say use the HVLP setup. If it were laminate or repaint with a roller/spray paint I'd say use laminate.

When I sat textured I mean really rough, textured feel. Not sure what that style of paint is called tho. I do not have the means to do hlvp, so I am leaning towards the laminate. But, how do I cut where the spear cut out would be if I laminate over that? I understand laminate router for the sides, but how do you cut the pieces for the front and where the speaker cut outs are? That is the main reason I m having trouble deciding as I am really u sure how to do it...

Same deal if using a hard laminate use the router. for vinyl you'd just use a razor blade. I'm thinking Laminate would be rather expensive, tho i've seen 1 collector use black lexan/plexi on the sides of his (not sure why i'll have to ask him).
