Hi all,
I need to get some paint matched from my Ms. Pac for touchup but can't find a way to do so. I can't just take a chip if the paint like you can do drywall, the back door doesn't match/doesn't have all the colors, and there's no way I'm taking the whole cab to the paint store. Is there another way?

Thanks!!!

See if you can find a pantone book. Match the colors on your cab to the book, and then take the book to the paint store.

*starting over*

1. Go to paint store.
2. Ask paint store clerk for a Pantone book/swatch ring.
3. Take swatches/book home.
4. Match your cab.
5. Go back to store, buy paint.

Ah, I see. It's just there's no local Pantone paint store here... :( Thanks anyways.

He's using the "Pantone" name in a generic fashion, much like calling any brand of tissue "kleenex". So what he's saying is go to the paint store, ask to borrow a color swatch book, and use that to find the matching paint colors.

Oh, I see. Thanks for the clarification,

Isn't there a phone app that you can take a pic and it tells you the color??? I know there is, just don't know the name of it... Maybe someone else will chime in with that info.

Found 2.. Colorsmart by Behr paint or colorsnap by sherwin williams. Take a pic and it will tell you the color from those 2 makers... There are probably others as well..

I would do that, it's just the color will never be spot on from a pic.

If you are going to touch it up anyway, why not just take little chips off the cab and take those to get matched? You could touch those back up with the paint you buy...They dont need much to do a paint match, just scrape a chip off with a razorblade and tape it on a piece of paper.

+1 to this,

imo use both because they're not 100% accurate but they're close enough.

For touch-up?

only way to find out is to try, how else are you going to get a close match with out bringing a chip/chunk/sample with you?

Edit: i suppose you could start buying blue things until you find a color that matches :D

+1....because each cab has fading that is unique to that cab, the only way to truly match the remaining color for touch up is to color match your own paint.

I wouldn't trust the color that a digital device captures when you take a picture. Please use actual color swatches to get your color match.

I remember seeing this...it at least gives you the idea of getting some Home Depot or other paint cards to match...

Pop up a large chip in the top layer of plywood, like 2x2" or whatever the paint store machine needs to match to. Get paint matched to it. Reglue the chip into place. Use a lesser conspicuous part of the cabinet like on the back edge. If you're careful and glue it back in and clamp, you may never be able to tell.

I got my paintone colors from Ebay. Also look on the inside someplace to see if there's any color there. I've had to machines that carried the colors on the inside under the control panels, I could chisel it out and take to Lowes for a color match.
