Just lined up a Space Ace for the arcade... coolness!!

I've read here somewhere that removing the laserdisk and laserdisk player is very important prior to moving any laserdisk game. The seller has indicated he is willing to prepare the game for moving per my specifications.

My question is this: If you were moving a laserdisk game across a few states via a truck, what precautions would you take in preparation for the move?

If you can power up the game and remove the disc from the player that is ideal. The ld player is in a slide out drawer and can easily be removed from the cabinet. Remove it and either put it in a box or wrap it in a blanket and put it in the backseat. You can also polish up the ld incase it has grooves worn into it. There is plenty if info on that on the web. Good luck with the move and remember to strap the cabinet very well, it's a slick front cab and straps dont have much to stop them from sliding down...

Make sure whoever it is doesn't decide to invite his friends because he thinks it requires 80 dudes to lift this thing and while your back is turned wheel the fucker out tip it over and the back drawer goes flying out.

*Upside - Player was busted anyway. All the attachments were unplugged. Laserdisc in working shape. And you walk away with it for free.

OK... remove the laserdisk player... got it.

Should i leave the disk in the player?

Or is there any safety advantage to removing the disk from the player, protecting them both, and transporting the the disk and the player separately?

If you are transporting the LD player in the seat of your car or truck you can just leave the disc in the player but at no time turn the player on it's side. Keep the laser disc player flat all the time. Bad things could happen if you tilt the player on the side. Not sure about the DL /SA original players but the PR 8210 that came in MACH 3 will slip the laser slide out of alignment if it's not secured with the screw so just keep it level to be safe. the newer Sony LD players if you lay it on it's side with the disc inside will jam the disc so the drawer wont open and you will have to take the top off to get the disc out. Most of these Sony ldp1450 players have loose belts on the door tray and dont like to open anyway.

The player maybe bolted down to the wooden drawer the player rests on. Just remove the player with drawer and all. Leave the disc in.

unfortunately I don't know all the ins and out of laser disc games. Personally I always remove the disc when transporting just to avoid any possibility of scratching if the player gets bumped around too much in transit. Some of these players have a screw that is meant to be tightened when shipping to keep things from moving around inside the player and I believe mainly to keep the laser from falling out of alignment. Some players do not have this and you simply must be careful and always transport them sitting as they would in the game. Not sideways or upside down.
