Yo KLOVrs,

Looking to get help with paging microphone setup because apparently there is nowhere online that has a simple guide and the Rowe CD-100C's manual has no mention of how....just pinouts.

So get this alright, I have a location that wants to use wireless microphone's and we've found a solution for them. The only problem I have is that the wireless microphone has no way of flipping the mute off on the CD-100C's amplifier like normal paging microphones. So i wanted to create a simple solution using a voice activated switch so I don't have to leave the amp's mute off all the time. The switch requires a 9-12VDC power source which i could use the amplifier's VCC out on the microphone to power it (the switch only pulls 20ma)
and then a linear voltage regulator to drop the 14vcc out to 12v. So wiring the microphone to the voice activated switch is not my problem, its wiring everything to the amplifier. I'm confused because there are 2 different diagrams in the schematics for the microphone input and the way each one labels it just makes it more confusing.

You have the following pins, ()is the secondary diagram's label

Pin 1 Input (Mic Page Signal)
Pin 2 Key(not used)
Pin 3 Switch (Page Control)
Pin 4 VCC (+14VDC)
Pin 5 Mic Input (common)

Now when it comes to wiring the microphone's signal, it's obvious the mic's unbalanced common should be wired to pin 5, but what should the input be wired to? The wireless microphone receiver has its own pre-amp to power the signal from the microphones themselves (obviously) and the receiver has a balanced and unbalanced out. I only need the unbalanced, but i don't want to feed +14VDC into the signal side of the microphone's out so I assume to wire it to pin 1?

And what about the mute switch itself? Does the +14VDC switch it? Or is it Pin 1 and Pin 3 flipping it?

......Right now I just need someone's educated opinion so I don't mess up my amp or mic's....I thought i had this all in my head, but at the end of the day i'm tired and libel to make mistakes.

**UPDATE**

I was able to find an example of a page microphone setup with a Rowe CD-100 at one of our existing locations. Not to mention pull apart the Telex gooseneck microphones that had been used before so I'd get an idea on the color code used. (bad mic's so i didn't break anything useful)

The +12v output is used to flip the mute switch, and pin 1 and 5 respectively power our mic. To avoid a possible overload on the circuit I attached a simple AC to DC wall outlet to power our Voice Activated Switch. I'm including a diagram of my circuit i made to help us with this wireless microphone setup.

Maybe this will come in handy for anyone that wants to make a paging mic setup.

The wireless microphone system is a Hisonic HS8286
The Voice Activated Switch (VS1) was a project board by Ramsey Electronics

Rowe's paging microphones, regardless of whether they are handheld (CB style) or desktop (dispatcher style) use the 12 to 14 volts DC terminal from the jukebox amplifier to power the preamp board inside the microphone.

I was going to start a new thread but I figured I would finish up on this one. I had the CB type mic for years and finally found the cable on eBay for cheap since I didn't feel like paying $150 for it from Suzo Happ. It's pretty damn cool. It's totally plug and play. What surprised me is that the paging system works even if the juke is turned off as long as it is plugged in.
