Pacman value with cab painted over with new monitor?

A pac is one of the games i desire, and not that many come up this close to me.

I nicely sent them a message suggesting that they are well above market value for a machine they painted, and that side art alone is $250. I was honest and let them know i wasn't trying to insult them.
I pointed out there there is others in working condition on ebay with asking prices of $600 that have been for sale quite a while that have original sideart.

They replied saying they understood and to make an offer, but they let me know they payed $525 shipped for a new monitor from texas. Kinda sounds like alot to me, but again, what the hell do i know, i've never purchased a monitor. Is that a real price? Should i take that into consideration?

My uneducated opinion says this unit is worth like $350-$400.
I don't want to be too much in the red if i chose to sell it later after purchasing sideart.

What do you guys think?

Due to the fact it has a new monitor in it Id say 350 to 400 is about right...

Thanks dad, i figured so much.
You think they really spent $525 on a new monitor? Not accusing them of lying, just wanted to be educated if i land up speaking to them.

Negotiating $1300 to $350 may take some time.

I would want to know WHAT kind of monitor they put in there for $500.

Likely it's NOT a 4600 or G07, which is what should be in there.

That's a $300 machine. WTF is that extra button on the CP for? A credit button?

The coin door has been (spray) painted black, ech.

The bezel is scratched to hell - is it plastic? I can't tell. Repro?

Yellow T-molding? Yuck.

Tell them to take their gold plated monitor and stuff it - offer them $200 for the cab without the monitor, and grab a monitor from a KLOVer.

for reference, i paid $250 last winter for a Ms. Pac with a nearly-new Happ Vision Pro, cab in moderate condition (serviceable artwork but usual fading and come graffiti i touched up,) and a Pac board that was resetting. exchanged the PCB with Dick Millikan for like $35 and had a fully working machine.

i figured the monitor was worth $200 and i paid about $50 for the cab which was in nicer shape than painted-over-black one i had been using.

If it helps, you may want to go into detail on how much you are going to have to spend to restore it. I don't know how one does that without coming across as insulting, but...The paint job is very sloppily done, the bezel is scratched to hell, looks like they painted the control panel without stripping it and they covered the coin door with globbed on black paint. I'd think in NJ you'd have better luck finding another that isn't so rough looking.
I'd go on the low end and offer $300. If they want to sit on it for years at $1300, I'd let them and keep looking elsewhere :vroam:

Dude You can get a sweet ass PacMan for that kind of cash.

If it were me keep looking. You could find a nice game for 3-400
and have it shipped and come out better.

Just my .02 worth

Dont do it...

If your looking for something in our area specific I'll keep my eyes peeled for ya.

This is why i ask before i get too involved in these things, thanks guys.
Sounds like this machine needs a little of everything, except a monitor of course.
Maybe i just link them to this post, lol.

I'll let it go for a few weeks, offer them $200 or so, if they bite great, if not i move on.
I don't want to be in one of these more than $600 and it seems i'll be past that and it still may not be all that nice.

Its just an old pac cab painted over. $200 for the cab. Maybe $350 with monitor.

Thanks, please do keep an eye out.
I'd trade you something, but all i could trade is Electrical work (i'm a contractor) or my new dedicated MKII (and i wouldn't at this point).
