Does anybody know if this looks like this an issue with the PCB or does it look like a monitor issue?

Thanks for the information. That definitely looks like the issue I have.

I have done a little more searching around and it seems like the most likely fix is to replace 74LS74 @ 5M. Unfortunately, what I can't seem to find is a component layout map of the PacMan board. Can anyone point me towards where I can find that?

5M won't fix it.

Is your sync bus card seated good and making good connection?

Tinkering with PCBs is all brand new to me. I'm trying to learn as I go right now – and I have a long way to go. :) I guess that step one would be to pull the board out and just check to see if everything looks to be seated correctly.

I just picked up the game this Saturday (I knew of the split screen issue when I bought it).

I plugged the game in once when I got it home just to get a picture of the screen to post here and see if anyone had any advice. Unfortunately, I am so pressed for space right now that I had to put the game in a storage garage until I can get some room inside for it. I will get to looking a little deeper at it this weekend – provided we don't get another 18 inches of snow before then.

Why would the sync-bus controller have *anything* to do with clock generation?

Don't you claim to be an "expert" at fixing these? Geez.

If you really knew what you were doing, you'd be able to look at a picture like that and know exactly what's wrong... I already PMed him the most likely answer, but he seems to be ignoring it.

You have sent me two private messages and now this reply and you really haven't said anything more than it will be and easy fix and 5M won't fix it.

If you want to actually offer some advice on a fix, I would be glad to hear it, but if you are just angling to get me to send you the board for repair; then no thanks.

I still don't see where you have addressed this issue: http://forums.arcade-museum.com/showthread.php?t=168128

If you have addressed the issue with SuperGunGuru privately, then I truly do apologize.

I'm not trying to be a jerk; I just don't have a good feeling about you in light of what I have heard from others here and your own lack of response to the above thread by SuperGunGuru.

I seriously doubt Mark is soliciting any board repair work....
Like him or not, he is very knowledgeable. If he really sent you some advice via PM then you'd be wise to heed it.
