Have you tried to match your problem with the pictures on lawnmowerman's page?

You have confirmed as well that your monitor isn't just rolling so fast that it appears to have three images as well I would guess....

Wow, ever so helpful...

Looks like the image is wrapped or not sync'ed. Have you tried adjusting the vertical adjustment knobs on the chassis?

Hey Mark...

...how about just helping the broham out and pointing him in the right direction?

Could it be a monitor on the wrong frequency? I had a game that had double images that was fixed by a switch on the chassis. I think it was 15 vs 31?

I had something similar on my pacman

was working fine...

one day I noticed the back door had opened a bit.. reached back and closed it... maybe a bit too hard...

and then I had double image on the monitor...

swapped another monitor and it was fine... so possibly a monitor issue on yours as well...

Why bother... even if I told him exactly what was wrong, he probably doesn't have the tools or experience to actually fix it.

All we've gotten is a crappy picture, and a crappy description of the problem... probably just lost vsync.

Yeah, because no one can ever buy the right tools or get the experience.... it must be a god given thing...

You've been collecting for how long now? Do you have the knowledge and experience to fix his board?

That's what I thought.

Mooooove!!

Actually, yes I do. Do I have the experience to say exactly what the issue is? Probably not. Can I fix all problems I run across? Not yet, but I haven't spent as much time as some repairing games.

well, i've had 5 pacmans, none working when i purchased them, all working after i had them.

but like anyone, i can always use help. so i come here for tips...was out of town for the last 2 days.

great advice. will try some different things...at least most of you guys GIVE tips. will post with the results.

man...it is the vertical hold. i had checked it, but the pot is bad, so it doesn't creep, but just flaked out on it's own. will swap that out with new.

i also have a weak edge connector, will get that fixed up as well. and a few bad roms as well, gives me blocks instead of characters. simple enough. sorry for the pic, but that's exactly how it looks. 3 skinny ass pacman screens.

again, thanks for the tips all...i was thinking it was the 3N p5 high issue as well. it was the closest to what i was looking at.

you were right, hudson...way above my tech skillz. i better stop board repairs on laptops now as well

Thats character rom problem, should replace socket but might get by with just cleaning and reseating the roms 5E & 5F. It sounds like its only one of them if its just the characters. Problem is I have CRS and cant remember which one it is.
