I recently bought a capcom bowling game $150 non working lighting/trackball issue. I am new to restoring arcades since I just started out and this is only my second arcade game purchase in the last month. But as I got there I realized this was a original pac man cabinet with all the origianl parts in it I believe.Someone also painted both sides a horrible paint job using a harley davidson orange and screwed plexiglass over capcom bowling sideart on both sides. after I got home I cleaned a small spot and seen some yellow paint of the original paint plus numbers matched the door, midway tag etc. Now I'm torn and asking you guys what should I do! My friend wants to trade me his really nice Dedicated Gorf for the Capcom bowling game. His Gorf I worked on and got it running and probley only needs new sideart, a cpo, some locks and a few lightbulbs. My heart would like to restore the Pac Man back to life, but at what cost.there is some burn in on both the pacman being worse. The Gorf unnoticeable when on. I'm sure the Pac man needs a new control panel since they cut the hell out of the wood to put the trackball in and drilled extra holes for the left and right hook buttons. the including marque, pcb, joystick,t molding, cpo overlay, painted marque glass and new locks.
What is the better deal keep or trade? Since then.
I have worked on the capcom bowling since and got the lighting working and trackball working but still needs new bearings and rollers for the trackball.
1st arcade was a gauntlet with the original 5 skull sideart if you were wondering what my first game was.
If I was to strip the paint off do you guys Recommend 3M SAFETY STRIPPER. I seen someone get a bad paint job off a cabinet on the internet with this I believe.
