Hi guys, i got a pacman 24-1 kit today off ebay and it was working fine for about a half hour then i went to eat and came back and now it's a scrambled screen. The games are all still there and you can put a credit in and see the scramble change and the game seems to be there put the picture is wacko. Like it looks when the game is booting. I broke my camera cord yesterday so i can't upload a pic. Any thoughts what happened. Did i get screwed on this thing or is it too early to call bad seller. thanks

mine did that in a cocktail i had, i removed my multipac kit (all of it) and reinstalled it from scratch. didn't occur again.

reseat everything...let it fully cool down. start up again...if it lasts for 1/2 an hour again, give or take, 90% faulty kit.

You probable need to either reseat the gfx daughterboard or the cable going to it...

I usually replace the socket it plugs into when I install kits, just to make everything cleaner.

Everything is glued down(maybe silicon, but it's a clear and hard) in place. It looks like a professional install. the only chip i could reseat was one lableled 5e so i tried it and still scrambled. i'm gonna try the cool down advice and see what happens. Can the chips need reseating when it doesn't even move? Although in my case they are pretty firm to the board. thanks for the advice.

you purchased a kit SILICONED to the board?

ya, just return it.

It came already installed on the board, very clean install with the wiring etc. I thought it was nice to be plug and play. I'll try your advice still guys.

may look great, but so does a lot of the stuff out of china. doesn't make it work.

sounds like issues occuring with heat. the remove and replace kit is just an easy thing to try, but with the kit siliconed in, only recourse is a return.

i'm assuming your stock board works with no issue, of course.

kinda pushed down on everything that i could, checked wires etc. let cool off. so far so good about 30 minutes. Well see if it does it again. I hope not, i hate doing claims. I'll check back in a tad!

What makes you think the kit came out of China?

I think he just means in general, stuff that looks good isn't always good.

I think he just used some of the Chinese knock-offs as an example of things that look good, but have second/third rate parts that are destined to fail.

This is the kit that licklizard sells, not sure who makes it. I got it mounted on a ms pac board for $175, considering the kit alone is $150 plus shipping i thought it was a good deal but we will see. i had it run for about 40 minutes last night and it stayed on without the scramble, then i had to go to bed so i shut it off. i will give it a good test tonight. I wonder if licklizard repairs these if somethings wrong. I got tired of waiting for the 96 kit so this was the next best thing. I'll post back.

sounds good so far, at least. i agree with you with ePay claims, but at least you get that 60 day window when you use Paypal.

sorry...i didn't mean this kit was from china. i meant, that the kit and board may look good. and many items sold out of china look good...my comment comes from the fact that i order a lot of laptop parts online, and i notice a very high failure rate on all power adapters and batteries that are of Chinese origin.

just to clarify what i meant...

Sorry I was sold out of the 96 in 1 kits, I held off running the PCBs in case they were needed to shore up the minimums for the Exidy project.

They're coming now if you'd like one, PM me.

what kind of power supply you have there running the board?

might want to make sure its still feeding the correct voltage after the half hour as you dont want to have the same problem with the new board and go through all that return thing waste of time.
