I am trying to sort out my stash of Pacman boards to get a good working Ms. PacMan. I was able to get 1 working yesterday as it had a bad 284 card and a swap solved that, course it has a Ms. Pac Attack maze rom (U6? on the daughter card I think).

I have 4 boards: 1 is a Ms. PacMan Attack board, 1 is a working Pacman with sound issues and a bad 5F Rom, 1 is missing Roms and now a bad 284 card, and the last 1 is a non-working board modified to run Ms. PacMan without the daughter card (2 extra Roms in row 6).

My question is about the modified board.
Are the Roms the same as regular Ms. PacMan Roms with the 2 extra being the same as what would be on the daughter card?
I am hoping to grab one of those to replace the U6 map chip on my working board.
I am wanting to have a regular Ms. PacMan as the "Attack" version seems goofy to me.

Another question:
Best place to buy PacMan Roms?

Post a pic of the Attack board. It could be one of two things;
1. A ROM or piggyback mod
2. A different U6 ROM (controls mazes).

the modified board to play ms. pac uses all different chips on that row with 6 on it, so you can't use any of those on the other boards.

The 2 'character' chips (the two down lower, on a different row) are probably the same as Ms. Pac-Man, however.

The so called "attacks" alternate maze chip is just U6 on the daughter board. Yes, it is correct that the ROMs for the no daughter board hack are not compatible with the normal software. I have been told that 6E is the same but I do not believe so. The checksum in 6E would be different for each version.

Thanks everyone!
I played the "attack" version some more and really dislike it now.
Anyone want the Rom? Maybe a trade part.

Anyway, the fruit still follow the original maze pattern, so they go right across walls and all.

Looks like I should have 2 boards working, the other 2 are pretty good parts boards, maybe repairable eventually.

I'll post an interesting restore/save/build I'm just completing. By far the most in-depth machine save I have undertaken!

Yeah, the fruits don't follow the altered maze pattern. Rather annoying. I sometimes swap the chip out for variety. I've got a spare working board for just in case and a Jr. Pac board as well.
