PacMan-Ms Pac Board Repair Question-Sync/Bus Jumper Wire?
Hello All:
In going through some Bally/Midway pac boards I recently acquired, I noticed a repair had been done on a sync-bus board with a broken connector pin on the bottom. A wire was connected ON TOP of the board at the broken off pin, and run around to the bottom of the main board, but instead of going to the same corresponding pin on the bottom of the main board, it was placed at the pin DIRECTLY ACROSS from it on the other row. Is this the way this kind of repair is done to get it to work? Going to the opposite row? Or is there a specific pin on the bottom of the board all trace/jumper wires connect to to achieve sync. The board I observed this repair on wasn't working, but it wasn't a sync related issue. I tried this using that same sync/bus board on a different board I was having problems with, and the picture stayed still, but had a different issue with that board. So is the job of the sync bus board only to make the picture stay still and legible? If so I can try this procedure with other sync/bus and v/ram address boards that were working but had a broken off pin(s). Any useful input appreciated.
