Pacman monitor, no red

Great...new problem: I plugged in a galaga 3 board just to test it for a diff problem with galaga, plugged pac man back in EXACTLY like I unplugged it...and now my whole screen is showing a red tint over everything......I dont understand what would be causing this....any help would be GREATLY appreciated!

At least you know the red works on your monitor now. Try re-seating the edge connector on the game PCB a few times.

Thats just it tho.....The red ghost in the game is not there...just his eyes, the red pots do nothing for adjustments, the game comes on just fine, plays fine, but there is an overwhelming red tint on top of everything, yet its not in the game (ghost, fruit, etc) like it needs to be......

If the red pots are turned up too high they can overpower the balance like you are seeing. Couple this with no red coming off of the board and you will see what you are seeing, no red ghost and red missing causing the colors to be off.

If I unplug everything going to the monitor from the game pcb, the screen is blank, but still red which makes me think the trouble is somewhere up in the monitor, this is very perplexing considering I literally only unplugged two cables from the monitor board because they werent compatible with the Gaplus pcb. Plugged them right back in, and now Im getting this monitor problem...

If you get a different result each time you plug the PCB in, you might have a bad edge connector. Try cleaning the contacts on the PCB. Or after plugging the connector in all the way, back it off just a little. I need to do that with my Pac board, only with mine it's the Green signal that goes out when the connector isn't on right. (which causes the screen to turn green)

Yeah, cleaned it, still getting no game. I really hope I didnt somehow fry the board, just by simply unplugging it and plugging it back in.

Try wiggling the edge connector while watching the screen. You may find that it comes up when you have it flexed a certain way. it's common on Pac's for those pins in the connector to get dirty or to get a little hogged out, causing poor contact.

if that doesn't work, make sure the daughter cards are still seated fully, and check your fuses and interlock switches...

Looks like I've found the problem, all that switching must have burnt out these resistors. Looks like a radio shack trip is in my future. These things hard to solder? I have past experience soldering guitar electronics, but this is a wee bit different, but Im willing to try...

my next problem is, Im not sure which resistors I need to buy, seeing as how the two are burned pretty badly and I cant tell how many bands and which colors......While I am enjoying getting this pacman up and running, it is becoming quite the challenge! I am curious how moving the edge connector would have caused these resistors to burn out. Anyone have that happen before? Thanks for all your help so far!
