Hi Group,

I picked up a pacman with a few issues, looking for a little help.

First, how do I identify which monitor it is?

Also, the screen kind jumps a little (left and right). Yesterday, the right side of the screen in the center was warping a bit (don't know how to describe it, maybe stretching)

Can't seem to get the focus perfect either, seems that the focus is worse in the middle of the screen.

Finally, the right side of the screen, the pacman maze is more purplue than blue.

Let me know what you think, I'm up for a little do it yourself repair.

take pics of the monitor chassis.

a cap kit and re-flow is a must.

then it will probably need a degauss after you get it back together.

you have a K7000a.

it can be fixed if the flyback is not bad.

a cap kit and reflow is needed for those chassis.
i have all the parts (except the fly) you would need if you want to do it yourself.

if you need it fixed i can do it for you or swap it out for a rebuilt chassis.

the K7000 is a great chassis.

PM me if you need any help in replacing or fixing your chassis.

Peace

Thank you, what is a reflow? Haven't seen that described as I browse bobs website. Also, does that tube look like its leaking something?

reflow means resloder the solder joints on the chassis "board" of the monitor. your tube is not leaking its just glue to hold that strip down.

after looking at the pics again I noticed the taller heatsink which is usually for the 25 inch monitor, I wonder if thats your problem.

we would need a better pic of the back of the game to tell for sure.

you never know someone could have swaped the chassis sometime in it's life. or it could have had a 25' hacked in you never know.
but all stock k7000a's had a 11-12 pin neck. so either 19-25" chassis could be used.

but it does appear that someone put a 25" chassis on a 19" tube.

Hi Group, thanks for everyone's responses.

It was mentioned that a better pic of the back of the cabinet would be needed to help identify it. Sounds like the K7000 cap kit is what I need though regardless if I read everyone's post right. I'm going to replace the flyback too.

However, I would like to clear up the monitor vs chassis if for no other reason to be able to better describe it for a potential buyer down the road. Again, this is my first arcade.

ordinarily yes but you have two problems.

you have a 25" chassis on that tube you need a 19" chassis.
someone in the life time of your game has swapped chassis and installed the wrong one.

the other issue you have is you will need to swap the neck boards to fit your tube.

i have several here rebuilt but they need a flyback before they are ready to go.
if you want one of them shoot me a PM and we can go from there.

Well, the game does work just has some occasional irritations. Any reason I should just not do a cap kit and flyback and leave it be?

You're not going to be replacing the flyback on that monitor chassis - they're no longer available. The K7000a chassis was made by Zenith (under subcontract) and are no longer produced nor available. If you have a working chassis with flyback in tact, you're best off selling it to someone who needs the flyback.

You have a Wells Gardner 19K49xx monitor frame there, which someone has pulled the original chassis out of, and swapped in the K7000a. The little white retainer bracket that the K7000a is sitting on is not original to the monitor either. The 4900 usually bolted to 2 mounting ears on either side of the chassis, and a small clip in the left rear (up by the tube) held the chassis in place.

Your best bet would be to find someone here who wishes to trade you a working 4900 chassis for your K7000a. Or, sell your K7000a and buy a 4900 chassis. Your chassis in its current condition should be worth a recapped 4900 - they are of similar value.

Ceep's

Ceeper's.
I would look at getting a new chassis and sell your current one. It looks like you have a non oem neck board. :)
