Have a Pacman that plays fine until it locks up.Could happend after few minutes or hours.
Just shows a 1 on the screen.
I can't duplicate it in my cabinet, it happens in my friends.
Any thoughts?

PacMan lock-up

Any one agree with a new Z-80? If so, who's got one and how much shipped?

Works in your cab... doesn't work right in your friend's cab? It's not going to be a board issue.

If it's an original Pac cab that it's failing in then you need to inspect the edge connector on the wiring harness to see if it's spread open or has burns on the contacts.

Also replace any of the original fuse holders as they will cause power problems that can manifest themselves in odd ways such as lockups, crashes, noise bars on the screen, and more.

Lock Up

Both have new jamma harness with edge adaptors and the original power brick on the bottom of cabinet.
The cab that it did not work in currently has a 60 in 1 that has not locked up.

It has a jamma harness (with pacman edge connector adaptor) from the arcade shop and their happ power supply with preset molex connections. The Monitor is a vision pro connected to the power brick and the power brick ac plug is connected to the outlet on the happ power supply. Basically their is double isolation.

LMAO! Really? You honestly think that is double protection?

Let's see some pictures, sounds like some half-assed hacks to me.

I think Riptor is on the right track. Where are you taking the +5v reading? You need to take the reading across the capacitors C2 or C3 (the big ones by the heat sink). If your 60 in 1 is using a jamma adapter w/ a switcher, you may need to increase the voltage. The original Ms./pacman boards used 7v AC to the edge connector, then rectified it through diodes D7 and D8. Typically when using a switching PS w/ Pacman, you either jumper a wire across D7 and D8 or up the voltage on the switcher. Either way you need about 5.0 - 5.1 volts across C2 or C3.

Pac Man has its own power supply on the board and takes AC input. This power supply causes issues when you are trying to power it from a JAMMA connection.

BEWARE: If you turn the voltage up to get the proper 5v on Pac Man then remember that it'll have to be turned down when you put the other board back in the cab.
