Pacman board works fine with ABC kit but not without

Hey guys, I have a couple pacman boards that work fine with the abc kit but when i try to take the kit off and just put the 4 rom chips back in they wont work, I've checked all 4 sockets and all 4 roms everything checks out what am I missing?

Thanks!

How about the Z80 socket and cpu.
You know you can leave the eproms on the board when you run that abc. It will just ignore the roms.

well the ribbon cable plugs into the socket where the z80 would be and i've even taking the z80 off the abc kit and put it on there just comes up scrambled but works on abc kit every time

I didnt think about the kit plugging into the z80 socket, I always use the side test connector. I have seen this issue a few times. It was one of the TTL's right above row 6 if I remember correctly. If I get time I will check my repair log and see if its in there. Im going out of town this weekend and have a bunch of stuff to do before I leave. If I dont get a chance to check it hit me up the first of the week.

Check continuity on the pins of the ROMs with each other and with the Sync Bus Controller...

After that, check the enable lines on the ROMs for activity. Backtrack through the circuts to find the missing signals if the enable lines are bad...

Also look for cut traces... maybe someone did a mod to the board before installing the kit and removed wires but didn't patch the cut traces.
