Are Pacman and Galaga cabinets the same cab? I am getting a Pacman converted to capcom bowling and thought of changing it into a Galaga. I already have a Pacman.

Pac-Man and Galaga cabinets are similar, but Galaga cabs have more of a swoopy curve and pointed edge. Not to mention Galaga coin doors are positioned lower than the Pacs.
Galaxian, on the other hand, is exactly the same as Pac-Man.

I already have a Galaxian. I am getting the game for $50. Sides are painted over yellow. Probably just stick it in the garage for some future project.

Discussed many times here. But here's some info in generality -- there may be minute other details not covered here.

Galaxian, Pac-Man, Rally-X all share the same full size and mini counter part basic profiles. Cocktails are similar but not exact for RallyX
- All the Full-size are primarily made from plywood with the only particle board the bottom, speaker shelf and top, though some may be plywood.
- All the mini are the same laminate covered particle board and very little plywood
- All the cocktails have a single drop coin door vs. dual slot.
- All the full size/mini's/Cocktails use a wood coin box holder
- Galaxian coin door has a disc covering the old style button-to-start placement from EM games in the 60's/early 70s.

Differences:
Because Rally-X has a horizontal monitor instead of vertical there are differneces:
- Full size Rally-X is about 5" shallower than Galaxian/Pac-Man. There is no need for the extra space since the horizontal frame isn't rotated.
- Mini Rally-X doesn't need the full bump out bubble to cover the monitor frame and neckboard, but rather just a small 5" round disc that bumps out about 1" to protect the neckboard only
- Galaxian and Pac-Man cocktails have rounded corners made out of lumber with a fully square "box" assembled and no Tmolding on the edges. Rally-X cocktail is like a Ms-Pac cocktail where the two player sides are inset from the coin door and back sides leaving 4 edges that have Tmolding. Also Rally X has control panels matching that of Galaga/MsPac/Bosconian in size instead of the wider ones of Galaxian/PM.
- The are other differences with the size of the screen glass bezel between the games as well on the mini.

Galaga, Ms.Pac-Man and Bosconian all share the same full size and cocktail profiles though the same basic profile, But the Galaga mini is different than the MsPac/Bosconian.
- Most Full-size Ms.PacMan are primarily made from plywood with the only particle board the bottom, speaker shelf and top, though some may be plywood
- ONLY early run of Galaga full size are mainly plywood; most of the run is almost all MDF made with very little plywood. The plywood one has a shelf and wood box for the coin box. All others use a solid metal frame or a wire frame to hold a plastic coin box.
- All the mini are the same laminate covered particle board and very little plywood
- All the cocktails have a dual drop coin door
- All the cocktails have the two player sides are inset from the coin door and back sides leaving 4 edges that have Tmolding and taller/narrower control panels instead of the wider ones of Galaxian/PM.

Differences:
Because Bosconian has a horizontal monitor instead of vertical there are differneces:
- Full size Bosconian is about 5" shallower than Galaga/Ms. Pac-Man. There is no need for the extra space since the horizontal frame isn't rotated.
- Mini Bosconian doesn't need the full bump out bubble to cover the monitor frame and neckboard, but rather just a small 5" round disc that bumps out about 1" to protect the neckboard only (I believe--I haven't see the back of one)
- Galaga is a fully unique profile in the mini form.
- Ms Pac/Bosconian share the same unique (no other mini has it) bump out right around the control panel instead of leaning the coin door front wood piece slightly backwards like all other earlier cabs.

If i may correct something. Most of full stand up Galagas are made of MDF not plywood. At least mine is anyways. Hardly any plywood and the MDF is a POS.

I have a #8xx appx low serial number Galaga that is as much plywood as my Pac and MsPac..with the shelf and wood box, seen a handful of others like that.

Yeah, most are MDF in fullsize (particle in mini) . will update that.

Rally-X also has the ~5" difference to Pac/Galaxian that Ms. Pac/Galaga has to Bosconian.
