Pacific Novelty THIEF Refurb

Cool.

You can actually measure it pretty precisely, if you want to test it. Just start the tape and youtube at the same time, and let them play through completely. After four minutes, you'll know exactly how different they are.

I would assume there's a pot somewhere, to adjust it.

nice work
yeah I dont recall who sent that art but likely correct used photos to create it and had nothing to compare
so was good enough IIRC it was made smaller so it would fit better on both sides. customer choice not mine
BIG thanks for scanning this correctly so it could be fixed was super easy.
Looking forward to seeing the rest of your restoration

Fixed the hacked up cassette harness with the proper 6 pin molex on both sides.

For those interested in the cassette pinout:
Red - 12v
Black - Gnd (common for power and speakers)
Yellow - Left speaker +
Green - Right speaker +

This was the before on the cassette wiring. I think the cassette player must have been replaced at some point with the same model and they just hacked it in since the original plug was still on the player.

They wired the left speaker gnd to 12v, but it seems like that speaker is ok. I don't think the + side of the speaker was wired correctly either so it saved it by not making a complete circuit. (goobers!)

Finally had some time to work on THIEF the last few days.

After fixing the back door the thought of hanging the transformer off it didn't sit well with me so I built a set of extension harnesses to relocate the transformer assembly to the bottom of the cabinet.

I'd day the other thing that would lead to door damage was the cord always coming out of its notch and getting pinched when trying to close the door. This solves that too. I still have to move that knot in the cord.

I'm offering these for sale if anyone wants one:
