Hey guys;
I've been trying to work on more Pac pcb's, and learning how to fix them. I've got one here that has a good edge connector, and I've checked out all the roms, everything's good. The Z-80 socket was a little screwed up, so I replaced it, and put a new Z-80 in. Now Instead of a frozen screen, i'm getting what I THINK is the loop that plays when the game tries to boot; on the right side about 2/3rds up you see a few characters blinking, then I believe normally it goes to the grid, then starts the game.

On mine though, the characters just keep blinking in place, and the game never boots. I think it's stuck in the bootup sequence.

Anybody got any knowledge on what to check on these? I've replaced all the 2114 ram, and swapped out the two daughtercards, no change on any of it. I tested all the sockets on the roms for continuity as well, no dice. Also I'm getting the correct voltages on board.

For starters:

Bad ROM

Bad ROM socket

Dirty/corroded ROM legs

Bad 74LS245 connecting to the 2114 SRAMs

Bad socket on the Z80 Sync Controller

Thank you;
I've checked all the roms, and continuity checked every pin on the rom sockets (that's how I found the bad z80 socket). I've cleaned all the rom legs, and replaced the z80 socket.... so now i'm going to go try that 74LS245! Ironically I just bought a couple of those for another board I'm working on, so I have a fresh one here.

Thank you for your help, i'll report back.
