The Pac board I had in my cab has a 4-pin molex plug wired to the inside edge connector... it appears this molex supplies voltage and ground. I picked up a Pac board from a KLOVIAN assuming this was standard on all boards, but the board I got did not have this 4-pin molex soldered to it.

(A) Is this 4-pin molex connection stock or was it added after the fact?

(B) Would I be wise to add this molex hack to the new boardset even though it appears to be working with just the edge connector alone?

Neither Pac, nor Ms. Pac have molex connections on them. So it must be a hack. Natively, the power is supplied to the boards through the edge connector.

Most likely there was a problem with the edge connector at some point and the transfer of power, so the molex was added. If your current edge connector has all of it's wires intact and all AC voltages present, you should be able to just plug your new Pac board into the edge connector...

Having just done this myself - it's also possible that someone replaced the AC power supply with a switcher and didn't want to modify the original harness, so they supplied the DC through the molex instead. Which PCB traces are the wires connected to?
