Anyone see this?

http://www.thepinballcompany.com/pac-mansarcadeparty.aspx

Here are the games

Pac-Man
Ms. Pac-Man
Pacmania
Galaxian
Galaga
Galaga 88'
Dig Dug
Rally X
Mappy
Xevious
Rolling Thunder
Dragon Spirit
Bosconian

I'm sure there's a PC running MAME inside.

Guess NAMCO has gone all LCD now for their classic machines.

I would've thought Pac-Man Battle Royale would've come out first...looks like a much better game. Even a Pac-Man CE cab would've been better.

I dont think its going to be a PC let alone one running MAME. Its probably more like the other two multigames, one single small board.

I can verify that both the home version and the coin op version have LCD's in them. Its cheaper for Namco to use LCD's then it would be for them to try to find CRTs at this point.

The description says it is for home use but the picture shows a coin door on the game. WTF? One thing is for sure, building a 60-in-1 out of some junker cabinet would be much cheaper.

Am I the only one that thinks this cabinet looks like Homestar Runner?

And I am confused as to why these are so freaking expensive.

There is a home version of this but AFAIK there aren't any pictures of that released yet.

There are two versions of this, an upright and a cocktail both the same price from what I've seen.

Cocktail version:

Also another site selling the game:

Why is it so expensive? To be frank, it's because it's Namco. They never do anything cheap. But if you look at the current market for multigame cabinets like this, it's price is about the same, ignoring the 60-in-1. For example, the new Arcade Legends 3 is only a hundred dollars or so cheaper

EDIT: Whoops, not sure how I logged in under this name, normally it's AtariShag. :\

They are not that expensive in the grand scheme of things. Namco's games are fully licensed multigames while the X-in-1's are bootleg knockoffs. Namco has to pay from some of those licenses so the expense is passed onto the buyer. Namco is also buying new cabinet and having artwork made for them. Theres costs involved in those sort of things.

On the coin-op side this game is way cheaper then most new games. Most new games starts at $6k or so and go all the way up to the lower $20k's.

I can see that side of the coin. I still think the cabinet is goofy though :p

None of mine have shown up yet. I was supposed to get one here in Dallas this past week but the weather has been way below average so it didnt happen. I should be getting one in Chico Ca next week so if you guys want me to I'll post real life pics.

OK, so I got my hands on one of these last week. First impression, not too good.

There are a handful of 8 way games on the list and the game ships with a 4 way joystick. MsPac is NOT in the game???? The few horizontal games are tiny on the 20" vertical LCD. Galaga88 has HORRIBLE lag. The game selection scheme is kinda confusing. You deposit whatever the game is set at to play (4 coins out of the box BTW). Move the joystick left or right to select your game. Hit the 1 player button for a 1 player game or the 2 player button, I think you get that part.

Heres where it gets strange. The game shows you breifly how to play whatever selection it is that you just made. After the instruction screen you have to press "A" to enter the game or "B" to exit the game. What the hell??

I ended up bending the blades on the joystick to make it 8 way and the 4 way games still play as they did.

Namco really needs to do some field testing of these games before they put them out.

BTW, the pictures were upright when I uploaded them so dont give me any frigging grief! LOL!

That cabinet art is horrible, reminds me of those cheap Midway games they had at Costco. The problems you described are big things, was this meant to be a cheap home unit or an actual money making machine? If it was meant to be routed I say fail.

Its meant to be routed. I've already emailed my concerns to Namco and my sales reps at Betson and a few other distribs. There are some things I can get past (the 4 way stick and the artwork) but some things are huge errors. No MsPac? WTH?

Those cabinets are just ugly. How can you celebrate Pac-Man's birthday and not make the cabinet Pac-Man yellow?

The cabinets on those sites are really weird look like oompa loompas.

Now that cabinet looks more along the lines of a 80's Midway cabinet. The Sideart isn't that bad. Maybe Ms Pac is unlockable like how Pac-Man was unlockable in the Galaga/Ms Pac cabinet.

Namco would be wise to start selling just the boards and making them affordable (around $200). They would open up such a bigger market for themselves.

I doubt selling the boards would put much of a crimp in the complete cabinet sales, which I am sure are fairly limited in volume.

I can assure you that this will NEVER happen. Namco isnt interested in more exposure, just getting as much as they can for what they sell. Its not really a board. Its a mini ATX mother board with an I/O board.
