So I received my new orange T-molding for my Pac-man machine. The old molding was extremely faded and brittle. I knew it wouldn't be easy but I never expected it to take more than two and a half hours to remove all of the molding. The flat part would break leaving just the part inserted in the groove. I had to pry it out using a knife and screwdriver bit by bit. There were also some staples on each side holding the molding in. This had to be grinded out using my dremel. What a pain in the ass!

Two hours later all of the old molding is removed.

Anyone else have any horror stories of T-molding removal?

I restored a Rally X a while back and it was the same way. It was so dried out and brittle that it took forever to remove. It just kept cracking and splitting into little pieces. I remember sitting there with a tiny screwdriver for over an hour digging out the little remnants in the groove. I remember thinking, "Is every machine going to be like this?" Thankfully, that was the worst one. It was made alongside Pac-Man at the same time and I believe it shared the same T-Molding too. Mine looked just like yours, orange on the back side and completely faded on the front. It also had the staples that had to be ground out.

The new T-molding looks great by the way! I remember it was satisfying as hell to put in the new stuff once it was cleaned out too.

I literally just did this, it took me literally like two hours. The fact of it being 30 years old, dried out, and glued/stapled in the corners was just awful, but well worth it.

Hell yeah. It only took like 5 minutes to install the new stuff. It would be melodramatic if it didn't look so much better.

They really didn't want the molding come out, did they? It wasn't glued all the way around just in certain spots. I'm not really sure why. The new molding went in nice and tight all the way around. I'm glad for that though. I was worried about all the scraping and digging widening the track the molding goes into.

Looks nice! I got the bug as well and ordered enough t-moulding to redo 3 different machines (would have been 4, but they are currently out of the chrome..).

I have not done this yet, does anyone have any recommendations or tips on removing t-moulding? Best I can tell, it looks like a screwdriver and alot of patience...

If its brittle like this one was then a small screwdriver and tons of patience are the best two tools. All the other T-molding I've replaced has come off easily.
