I have an UR Pac-man that was recently capped and is looking good. I bought the Ms. Pac daughter card (thanks bwagner5150) and character roms (from Bob Roberts). I tried it out last night and all I got was a screen full of garbage. Does anyone have a quick tutorial (preferably with pics) on how to install the card. I tried a couple different ways and nothing worked. Thanks

Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving.

Well, you obviously put the character ROMs in at the proper spots (make sure the polarity is right and no pins are bent).

You take off the daughtercard over the Z80 chip, plug the Z80 into the Ms. pac daughtercard, plug the ribbon cable into the original Z80 socket (make sure pin 1 is matched up properly), put the other daughtercard back on (seated properly) and you're done.

if you're having problems, check to make sure the ribbon cable didn't get a pin broken off at the connector (easy to do) and that the daughtercard is in firmly and facing the right direction...

Its pretty simple like mod said. Just install 5E & F and make sure the notch on them is facing torwards the bottom of the board. If you installed one backwards its toast.
Try running with the character roms installed but the z80 still on the main board. If that works (with funky looking characters), go ahead and install the aux board. Set the aux board on a bench next to the main pcb with the chip notches in the same direction as the ones on the main pcb. Then install your cable connecting the two and it should work. Bad cables are not uncommon so if its not working then thats most likely the problem. Are you swapping the z80 from the main board to the aux board or did the aux board already have one? If the aux already had one, try swapping in the known good one.

If you remove the ribbon cable by pulling on the cable you WILL damage it. Always use a tiny flat head screwdriver to remove the plug from the socket.
