So I already replaced the grommet in my Pac-Man joystick from Arcade Shop and adjusted the leafs to be as close as possible before making contact.

I'm still noticing some odd behavior on the joystick movements in some cases. Wrong directions mostly. There isn't a whole lot to this thing but in case I'm not seeing something, is there anything else I should replace or adjust?

Thanks

Harness connections, edge connector, etc. DeOxit and clean everything.

I'm not as familiar with Pac-Man PCB's, but I know on Atari boards, it's possible to have bad input chips on the game board that can cause control issues as well.

you clean the edge connector. (seen in the PSU guide in my signature) this is one of your lines of defense against the edge burning up the power section, as the dirt will create resistance, which creates heat. I also strongly suggest replacing the fuse holders in the bottom, so you have an optimal feed of AC voltages to the board.

was this a new joystick and you transferred all the old wiring over?

Replaced the fuse holders already as well. I cleaned up the PCB when I recapped it, just need to replace the clips & connector.

Nope, this is the original joystick for the game. It had a worn out grommet that was causing it to being pushed downward slightly. That went away with the new grommet.

well given it's a 4 way joystick you don't really need to do anything fancy to the gaps on the switches or hook them for better diagonals. you can run the leafs parallel just fine.

if you're triggering diagonals in some strange way (it should be impossible) then that can cause a lot of problems with 4 way games.
