Pac-man Project

Thanks. Luckily, I work somewhere that has everything to restore a cabinet. It's nice to be able to sand and not worry about the dust getting everywhere. Clean up sucks!

This is my Pacman Coin Door after sandblasting, primer and paint. It's looking much better.

Does anyone know if the red in the cabinet artwork is a bit orange in color or do I have the wrong color paint. Every picture I see looks red vs. orange.

I'm redoing my nameplate for the back of the cabinet. I understand my fonts are different. I'm working on that.

I assembled the coin door although I'm missing the mechanics and the switches. I will have to redo the wiring from scratch for the door since the wires are basically all done.

I disassembled the joystick completely. The leaf switches are destroyed. They are bent out completely and the solder tabs are completely gone. I blasted the housing and repainted.

The cabinet got its final coat of yellow today. I will mask and throw on the flat black inside the monitor compartment and the coin door area. I almost used the entire gallon of yellow on this cabinet. Yellow is a very difficult color to paint with good coverage. There's something about the pigment. Blah blah blah. Anyway, I'm done with the yellow.

If you work over that nameplate hard with a Magic Eraser you might be able to wear off the yellow without hurting the original paint.

Hell yeah! Something cam take that yellow off.

Send it to me, Ill restore it and send it back!

Lol. Thanks guys. I'll try the magic eraser first. Here's another question....

I'm trying to figure out the masking lines for the flat black on the inside of the monitor housing. Where should I mask to? Does anyone have a good picture of the top of the cabinet? The lower masking line is in line with the CP but the top line, I'm not quite sure of.

Also, looks like you painted the back vents yellow. You'll want to pull those out and paint them black.

Perfect! Thanks very much. Yes I did paint them. I'll pull them out, blast them and repaint them black. Thanks for the pictures. I was looking everywhere online to find a picture of that.

Try straight alcohol. It usually loosens paint right up, but gentle enough not to disturb the original paint. Goo Gone will also loosen paint.

Don't use Goof Off, if you do, that will probably be too harsh and take all the paint off.

Those are my tricks, one should work for you.

Watch the Magic Eraser as it may scuff the original black paint...
