Well. As if I didn't have enough to do with the Ms. Pacman, i couldn't pass this up. I picked this up off of Ebay. It was a local purchase ten minutes from my work.

There are no boards inside but everything else is there. I had no idea that Pac-man didn't have t-molding.

These also came with the machine in the coin box. I know what the z80 cpu is but what are the other chips?

I just ordered some orange t-molding from t-molding.com. I'll start on this sucker next week but I'm working on the stencils for the sides first. I don't want to start painting until i figure out the correct colors first.

I found a few different color codes for this game. Does anyone have any better information for current paints that match fairly close to the pacman colors?

It's been repainted yellow. They went right over the t-molding. You can see overspray on the Midway plate and the vent holes on the back, plus a tiny bit on the coin door. Aside from going over the t-molding, it looks like they actually did an OK job.

kinda looks like that was upgraded to a pac plus at one point in time and those roms came off of the original board.

its a crummy pic, but why repaint the sides? they look fine. take care of the cp, the coin door overspray, add the t-molding, buy a board, plug it in, play it.

It's hard to see in the pictures but whoever owned this before the last owner hand painted the black areas and side are with a very small brush.

The tmolding isn't there. It's bondo that he has put on in place of the molding and sanded round.

Not just the yellow, but the entire side art has been repainted. It's been done using really poor quality stencils. They are way off from what it should look like.

As far as the correct colors, if you want to use automotive paints, you can click on my restore link below and I've got the codes in there.

It looks like he masked the original artwork and repainted the yellow then went back and hand painted the artwork back over.

I would say that he generally just free handed it, maybe trying to go off of a picture. Look at the size of the dots around the artwork down below. Pac smiles is way off and the box shapes down below are just a rough estimation of what they were originally.

Thanks. I got the automotive paint color codes from your thread. We actually have a full automotive spray booth and paint matching system at work. I might go that route or go house paint.

I'm actually going to drag the entire cabinet to Home Depot tomorrow and see if I can get a close match. Sometimes, they are pretty far off.

Wouldn't you then be color matching non-original paint? Isn't that kind of pointless?

Here are some well respected paint codes (he only has Pacman yellow):

I would just do a search. Pacman has been color matched 1,000 times.

Here is one I found:

I found a post with all 3 colors listed for Lowes interior paints. I went to Lowes but only the blue and the red were valid as one color in the yellow was discontinued due to elements in the paint. I sawed the corner off the back door since it doesn't show any signs of fading. I checked it against the paint under the Midway plaque on the back.

I don't know if you can see it but I've painted the color match in one spot on the left. It seems to be a very accurate color match. I will post the mix tomorrow.

BTW. I had no idea that there were speckles everywhere on this thing. What the hell were they thinking?

Okay. I sanded the crap out of this thing. Yellow dust everywhere! I ripped the top of and made a new one to replace it since the old was rotting particle board. The new one is 3/4" Birch ply. After sanding, I used a hardener on the edges and clamped the boards to bond the areas where it had split. While the boards where clamped closed, I ran thin CA glue into the edges. It soaked in and bonded the board layer back together and became rock solid.

I used a very dark grey polyester primer to prime this cabinet in two coats. The first coat, I thinned the primer so it would penetrate the wood. I applied the second coat so that it was very thick. This will allow me to smooth the texture. I'll start sanding tomorrow.

The dark grey primer makes it easy to see the problems. After I fill the holes and correct the problems, I will primer the entire cabinet with a light grey polyester primer.
