Does the coin door of a Pac Man mini not have illumination of the 25 cent sign over the coin inlet? My newly acquired mini does not have bulb sockets present nor is the harness hacked up to indicate that they had been removed. Looking at the schematic for the cabinet wiring, there does not appear to be bulbs present. Is this correct?

No, Pac-Man minis did not come with coindoor lights. I added them to mine, and it was easy as @sphiend said.

The 12v AC is what you need. This voltage is already supplied to the marquee lights. The Ms. Pac-Man mini followed this for the coindoor lights.

Can 12V LEDs be used on 12V AC? The marquee lights in this case had already been changed to LEDs but I really don't like how they give a spotlight effect and flicker.

While this can be a lengthy response, I'll cut it short and say, maybe. You need LED bulbs designed for AC. While some LEDs will work, it's not guaranteed. Some LEDs are designed for cars, boats, and RVs, which are sometimes AC. Most LED are designed for DC.

There are ways to get around this, like running an inline AC to DC converter, using the 12v DC from a switcher, or just using AC LED bulbs.

As for the spotlighting of the LED bulbs, there are multiple ways to fix that. If it were me, I'd start by cutting a small circle or square from electrical tape and putting it over the end of the LED bulbs. Does that resolve the spotlighting, while still allowing the marquee to glow? If so, keep it that way or consider spray painting the tips of the LED bulbs. These are just two of multiple solutions.

I put coin door lights on my Pac-Man. Very easy mod.
