Pac-Man Level 255 1 vs 2 ROM mod

hey, guys. I'm almost done with my spaeth logic emulator. Basically, you run it against a post you're thinking of making, and it will predict mark's thought process (and therefore what kind of response to expect). I'm still working on the human social skills generator, which is admittedly unstable, but i've just about got it finished. A few examples:

If posting...

1) the creation of a new product or an improvement on an existing one --> you've already done this years ago, and it wasn't very hard. You could have sold some for profit, but you didn't feel like it. Let them know this fact, and consider accusing them of ripping off your idea and passing it off as their own. Also, if unsure of the quality of said ripoff, assume it's crap and call them on that, too. Be snarky about it.

2) something in the repair forum --> let the poster know they are lazy for not searching for the solution via the search function, as this has already been asked numerous times. Do not point them in the right direction. Consider calling them kiddo, twinkie, or something of that nature. Let them know that the solution to their problem is very easy, but absolutely do not offer help.

3) something that proves mark to be wrong --> nope. Not possible. You are never wrong. The person who made the original post was unclear, so technically, you weren't wrong: You merely provided a correct response based off incorrect data. Therefore, it is their fault. Insult them or withdraw from the thread entirely, as you've got better things to do than deal with dipshits. Hurl one final insult prior to exiting thread.

4) something negative about mark in the feedback thread --> ignore it entirely. When people point it out to you in other threads, ignore them too. If forced to finally deal with it, offer zero apologies and place all of the blame squarely on the initiator of the feedback. Insult their intelligence while reasserting your own. Double down at every opportunity and be as abrasive as possible. Customers are dumb, and future customers who are turned off by your attitude are undeserving of the fruits of your labor.

5) something like this post --> insult the guy who posted it, either publicly or via pm. Act tough, but report it to a mod. No one will know that you can't take half of the bullshit you dish out to others (but they know). Continue to bully others and be an all-around dickhole to people who share passion for your hobby.

6) ilk ilk ilk ilk ilk ilk ilk ilk ilk ilk ilk ilk ilk ilk ilk ilk ilk ilk ilk ilk ilk ilk ilk ilk ilk ilk ilk ilk ilk ilk ilk ilk ilk ilk ilk ilk ilk ilk ilk ilk ilk ilk ilk ilk ilk ilk ilk ilk ilk ilk ilk ilk ilk ilk ilk ilk ilk ilk ilk ilk ilk ilk ilk ilk ilk ilk

Hahahaha! I actually had a political rule in my last post that addressed "you and your ilk," but I deleted it at the last minute. It also tackled who always lies, who always tells the truth, and whose stats are unreliable.

Mostly true.

2) Something in the repair forum --> let the poster know they are lazy for not searching for the solution via the search function, as this has already been asked numerous times. Funny how people like you post shit like this when you're completely incapable of offering any sort of help. I help on problems that interest me, and have no interest in rehashing problems with known solutions.

That which people refuse to send back does not get fixed. Of course sending it back so I can debug it ruins the narrative of "I didn't plug it in backwards".

I didn't insult the OP until he insulted me, kiddo. AFAIK, nobody's "reported" this thead... Tom found it of his own accord. But keep lobbing those baseless allegations if it makes you feel better.

Serious question: what exactly are you hoping to accomplish when you post the things that you post in the tone that you choose?

Daviea from Ram Controls yelled, "Do it up, Bitchass!" while poking Fizgig in the eye with the corner of his Sundance cab. And Star Wars Cockpit art.

smalltownguy2 was here.

Mark, you seriously don't see anything insulting about posting "yawn" in the guys thread?

People say you are a nice guy in person but over the internet you come across as a rude know it all.

Here's something to think about. If you have nothing to contribute to a conversation perhaps it would be best if you stayed out of it.

You forgot that Chuck Fitch was eating clams at the museum....

That's what's so funny about all this. It means nothing.
Who gives a poop if [the vocal majority of] klov likes or dislikes someone.
It's the real world connections that matter more.
And those of us who've been around a long time and culled our
expertise long before you could download a PDF of a manual or
google for a pre-assembled cap kit can't help but be a bit
disappointed with all the "look at what i can do" posts and videos
of people reinventing the wheel when it was done long ago
and without so much documentation already at anyone's fingertips.

and yes, you can get off my lawn now, too.

I've been doing this a LONG TIME myself (1984) and wish there was an "internet" at my disposal back then. Smart guys like Mark could have been invaluable in getting and keeping things working.

But... It is what it is. Mark's reply to the guy is what pushed this conversation over the edge. I dont think the OP was posting a "look at me" thread, it was simply an offer to others that may want when he had.

No matter how many times you say this, it simply isn't true and anybody who reads the first two pages of this thread can see that it isn't true.

1. OP posts asking who would be interested in his patch and explains a bit about it.
2. Three or four people respond saying they'd be interested.
3. You post your own patch with "yawn" at the end.
4. OP responds, pointing out very politely two reasons why your solution is inadequate compared to his.

The *yawn* was you, the polite response to it was him. He later called your solution "simple" and "amateurish," which if what he said in point 4 is accurate, I'd have agree with. In fact, you started off by bragging about how much simpler your patch was... but it turns out it was too simple, hence "amateurish."

PS I love the irony in your Bertrand Russel quote... you're about as cocksure as they get.

5. OP apparently doesn't realize that the hack he's so proud of messes up attract mode. -- How "amateurish".

6. fcjim apparently doesn't understand that my 5 minute hack only does what was described in the original post, not the things he described later to pretend my code was somehow broken.

Let me say this slower for you:
I wasn't "bragging" my patch was simpler... I was questioning why he modded 6J when those modes aren't required to *just* start on 254 as the first post described.

This fixes starts on level 254, at 9th key difficulty, and doesn't screw up attract mode.

Code:
rompatch2 pacman.6e 06C2 79 E0 0F
rompatch2 pacman.6e 0FE0 00 3A 00 4E 3D CA 79 08 3E FE 32 13 4E 21 09 4E AF 06 0A CF CD C9 24 21 7C 00 C3 86 08 00 00 C2 C1

Note: I moved my patch to the new "clean" thread. Thanks for everyone's support. I have added HudsonArcade to my ignore list and will not be further engaging with him. I suggest that everyone do the same.

What are you hoping to accomplish with the shit you post?

Oh, you know. Stuff like:

Have fun

Make people laugh

Hang out and chat with people who share an appreciation for the arcade/pinball hobby

Meet up with people, make friends, go to arcade-related events, and share in the experience with others

Host arcade parties and open my home to others

Offer help when I can, and encouragement when I can't

Escape the seriousness of everyday life for a few minutes

And occasionally:
Hold up a mirror in front of people who need to re-evaluate how they treat others.

You?
