Greetings all.

Just got an original Pac Man with the 96 in 1 kit installed

Game fires up great.

Start a game...... can't get through 1 board before it "resets" to the "game select" menu

Thoughts?

Thx much,

Rob

I recall a member having the same issue with a multi pac. Even had a YouTube video for it. Did you try a search ??

Good luck

Can you nail it down to a specific cause? Touching the coin door maybe? I once saw a Ms Pac that was very static sensitive and would reset on you if you touched the coin door.

Can't really nail it down to any "special" cause or issue

You will literally just being "playing" the game and it will suddenly "reset" to the game selection menu.

Almost always happens before you can even finish ONE board.

Game will have just been turned on, so it is not a "heat" related thing

Something is just constantly causing it to reset to the select menu.

Strange......

I assume this is running with a power supply that has a switcher kit installed. If so..the check your +5v and see if it need adjusting up a tad.

First thing you should always do is to check the +5 voltage at the chips. Checking it at the power supply is fine to start with, but it's on the board that matters the most. If there's a switcher in the machine, and no mods have been done, there are 2 rectifying diodes that will drop the voltage about .7v. So, the power supply may be at +5v, but at the board it may be only 4.x . Any problems with the connector or fuse connectors will further drop the voltage. Pacman likes to run very near/just over 5v.

Here is the latest update

Pac does NOT have a switching PSU installed

Looks to have the original "old" PSU installed

See pic

Checked voltages on the game board at C2 and C3

Got 5.00 and 4.99 Volts DC

Is there a way to boost that a bit with the original PSU?

Thx

Rob

Speaking of static sensitive games, does anyone know how to fix it? I have a Jr. Pac-Man that will reset if it gets the tiniest electric shock, such as touching the coin door. Also, I've seen that during game play, the board in Pac/ Ms. Pac games can reset if you touch one of the metal bolt heads on the control panel and get an electric shock. Why does this only happen with Pac-Man games?

usually happens when the ground plug is removed. If you run an earth ground around inside the cab and to that coin door should stop that.
