If you have the top glass and clamps for an original Pac-Man cocktail for sale or trade please send me a PM on asking prices with shipping included. Condition of the artwork does not matter, the surface needs to not be all scratched or contain cracks. I am trying to get the top of my cocktail covered and if necessary I'll end up just going to the custom glass shop. I do have a number of spare arcade PCBs and artwork so if you are looking to trade let me know what you're interested in or looking for.

I do have feedback on Digital Press, eBay, and some other game forums; just Google my username + feedback.

Thanks

You won't find many, if any, that survived the last 30 years unscathed. They're bad about flaking, even if they never got used. After shipping it'd almost be cheaper to get one cut and then use a new underlay. Looks better, too!

I figured that would be the result, but decided to check anyhow. Do you happen to know of a better method of clamping the glass down or where to find some? I've figured new glass would be about $50 and clamps $10-20.

Edit:
Let me be more precise on the searching for glass clamps. On-line stores appear to be pricey and would prefer to stay local. If the glass shop sells them what is the general ballpark price range so I know they aren't gouging me. Are similar clamps easily found at home improvement or hardware stores because I've yet to stumble across any.

Ah, thanks! I was seeing sites with $30+ for a set of 4 after shipping. Are there any differences between the Pac-Man and Ms. Pac-Man clamps (screw hole placement, clamp size) or is is just the artwork underlay dimensions around the corners that make them different? The underlay artwork is the next step. :) Oh yes, and although it appears I'll be set with the glass and clamps does anyone have an artwork sheet that can go underneath?

I use to get the glass from gamedoc for around 75 shpped. You must use tempered glass. The underlay and clip I think arcadeshop has that, the may have the glass too.

EVB, I had been looking around at those that make tempered glass locally and have yet to see someone on-line to beat their prices, that's why I was seeing if someone had an extra with art and whatnot to get both at once. It's the shipping costs of mailing glass that really makes it cost more. Thanks though, I'm still looking around for some underlay art and also read up on some articles from '03 regarding Namco hunting down those that were reprinting arcade and pinball artwork.

cyberfluxor, you need to use google, man!

I have, but this is KLOV! There's so much misinformation out there I'd much rather get some responses first hand. Trust, I do my fair share of research via Google and other sites on a daily basis. The same goes with buying/selling: if someone on here has items on hand I'd much rather deal with them than an on-line store as we can actually figure out what is needed to finish this work. I do have a number of PCBs, artwork, and parts so trading is always a big bonus too as the stores would appreciate cash so much more.

Ok so there's no "underlay" on original cabinets - the graphic was silkscreened directly onto the glass. Nobody's doing that anymore, you have to purchase an underlay.

The primary difference between the new underlays and old graphic is the removal of any mention of Midway. There are other differences, but this is the big one that a slightly more than casual observer would notice.

twobits online has a license to make and distribute Namco-branded stuff for Pac Man, Galaga and Ms Pac cabinets (probably more, but I dunno). Word on the street is that they're a bit shady and overpriced but otherwise not complete jerks. I bought my stuff from them, it looks great. I believe everyone else is selling the same underlay, I've never seen a difference. There definitely aren't any Midway ones being advertised for Pac cabs that I've found. I have, however, found Midway Galaga artwork that my restored Galaga now proudly wears.

There are other people on klov and elsewhere making true-to-original stuff for Pac and Ms Pac cabinets, mostly uprights, but you'll have to find your own way to get in contact with them. You won't find a website for them. You're right, Namco gets pissy when they find out.

Oh and make sure those tempered glass prices are quoted after you tell them you need it custom cut. That usually makes all the difference! Online beats local where I live as soon as I show them the cut & beveled edges I need.

I took my glass top to a local glass company and they cut me a new one for $20.. Maybe 25

They are always cheap for my needs

Cool stuff. I still have a couple of arcade game glass panes with the original artwork, one is of Baby Pac-Man. I just wanted to dig around to see if someone has an original Pac cocktail top and if it had good art then cool. I was looking at buying underlays as for the moment Jr. Pac-Man is in there (machine was JAMMA converted) and I have several Super Pac-Man boards so making a conversion cable along with picking up a Pac-Man and Ms. Pac-Man board was desirable, so then I can just swap out artwork whenever along with the board.

I will certainly ask about the cut and bevel up front for sure. I speculated based on similar requests others I know have made at a few places $50 should be the top cost locally for this job.

If this was for a midway cocktail with the larg curve cuts and tempered then that is a great deal. A place local to me quoted 135. So I just ordered it on line.

I could see regular glass at this price, but I have yet to see tempered glass around that size for less than $90. Tap on it hard for us and let us know the results ;-)

Thanks a lot everyone. If someone still has anything they are looking to unload let me know, otherwise I may end up on the on-line ordering run once I have set aside a few bucks to buy. After researching and getting forum member input I feel more confident in getting the right parts. :)
