Hello,

Just got a new Pac Man cocktail the other day and i seem to be having some issues repairing it. when i first plugged it in all i got was random numbers and letters and a cherry every now and then. 1st thing i did was check the power supply that was running a little low. I turned up the power a little and got the game running, but with a few lines running through the screen. I went to adjust the power a little more to see if it would clear up the lines and the knob broke on me.

I decided to replace the old switching power supply with a new switching power i had on hand, but for some reason I can't get my numbers right. I get 117.5 AC coming in, but even at full power i can only get 4.45 on the +5, 10.2 on the +12 and 0.00 on the -5.

I was wondering if the Pac Man cocktail uses a different switching power supply then most standard arcades. any help would be great.

Thanks,

There is a short on the pcb is my guess and If that is a switcher then I would try with a different pcb. It looks to me that the -5 is shorted and pulling other voltages down but it can be otheres. Resistance in the connections can cause this also, so clean connectors/pins.

I thought pac-man took ac voltage but check you application to be shure.
