As a little starter project I thought it would be fun to build a couple of cocktail cabinets.

These are going to use LCDs for screens, and RetroPi boards for the brains, but I'm going to stay as true to original as I can for everything else.

Luckily, I have a CNC router that I use for business.

I've already made a CAD model to verify everything fits together right. I used the measurements from Kyle Lindstrom's plans to build mine.
The gcode is all ready to send to the machine.

I would have had all the parts cut last weekend but, believe it or not, I could not get my hands on any 3/4 inch particle board...Long story.

So, I had some mdf in the shop and decided to get started with that.

I went ahead milled out the first parts, which are the bases.

Not super exciting, but every journey has to start somewhere ;)

More soon!
John

sweet! I'm working on a pacman cocktail soon for a friend of my wife's and need some inspiration lol

Thanks for sharing

Didn't have too much time to work on the cabinets this weekend, but did get everything cut out except the table tops.

I'm waiting to get the monitors before cutting the tops so I can make sure everything fits properly.

Next up, build the bases and start to assemble them. I've got some hardware coming from Arcadeshop.com that should be here tomorrow, so things should go fairly quickly once I have all the parts.

Any chance you will make the plans available? I'm in need of this exact build for a charity build I'm about to start.

Cool project! Looks good so far!

I built my own Galaga Cabaret from nothing years ago. See it in the link in my sig below.

I may have a build of retropie you may be interested in - I was planning on doing the same with a Pacman cocktail until a burst water heater ruined the walnut plywood I was gonna use.

Anyhow I've been working on a Vertical Retropie build with a custom theme made to look very "8-bit" I've since branded it Atari, thinking I may try it in my Centipede cabinet when that restoration is done.

It's only Mame games and I've used the new custom collections function to create new categories. It's still a work in progress, but I can share it with you when complete with you'd like.

Thanks for posting this. Yes I'd love to have a look once I get all the electronics installed and hooked up.
Have to finish building the cabs first! ;)
