Picked up a cocktail over the weekend and I would like to document the repair/restore on this. I'm sure we've all seen this topic a million times but this is my record of the refresh. This is an original PacMan cocktail table that is currently working but with technical issues and cosmetically in fair/poor condition. Pics of the initial state attached. Cosmetically the glass/top is in pretty rough shape.

Yes, it has been done before. But, not by you. There are those that like seeing the progress of a game being brought back to life.

Couple of corners are a little soft I will have to fix. Door and control panels are a little banged out.

I posted in the other forum section regarding the power distribution, a previous op had straightwired the fuse block so before I go any further with the electronics I will remedy that.

Thanks, also publicly you can all call me out if there is a better way to do something. This is my first project in a long time.

Couple more pics of the control panels. pretty dirty. Not sure of the writing inside. Anyone?

label everything before removing because I know I will forget what the heck was going on. I started pulling out the components today. Ordered fuses/ fuse blocks table top and some other things. Caps & flyback for monitor. Will disassemble and work on electronics separate from the cabinet. removed a junky power cable and will replace that with something safer and better.

have fun and good luck with the restore!
always great seeing before and after pics.

i restored my beat to death DK, and didn't take nearly enough pictures.
lesson learned.

More teardown pics. Found the adjuster to the G07 Horizontal Width coil in there. That will have to be replaced. I ordered a cap kit and flyback and horizontal width coil. Emptied the interior and pulled out the transformer board. Noticed that the diode in the coin meter circuit was completely gone.

Took out control panels for inspection and cleaning. I'm going to have to make some decisions here. I would like to keep what original stuff that I can for the sake of keeping it close to factory but I had to buy a new top and I think keeping these the way that they are would be like wearing a new suit with old sneakers.
I will probably strip the panels and repaint and hopefully find a good cpo. I ordered new buttons, keeping the joysticks. This is just simple green clean with towels and a brush and they look ok but they may need to be replaced when I see that new top from Phoenix Arcade.

Thank you. it's like taking pictures of your kids. I have 3 now. We have way less of the third one.
Have to be reminded to take pics. LOL.

This coin door is pretty beat. It's going to take some work but at least it's complete minus the lock. couple quarters in the bucket to put towards the project.
Edit: found a quarter and 3 Drachma(?). WTF?

New fuse blocks. Old ones were pretty nasty and bypassed. This is just a bad idea in general. I guess what I learned most from this is to always look inside the machine before turning it on when buying or finding a machine.

Those CPs look nice to me. I'd keep them until you get the top replaced and then see if they annoy you. I'd keep them original unless you really feel like you have to change them out.

I'm thinking that will be the way to go too. I did get some replacement buttons. And I can clean the bolts and screws. It can be a last minute thing. Thanks.
