So I'm working on this Pac-Man machine. Everything turns on but no game comes on screen & it doesn't sound like it's playing blind. The monitor hasn't been worked on in 20+ years so I'm going to recap it regardless, all I get is a solid green screen & it appears to be collapsing anyway.
The fuse holder was broken, & the previous owner at some point put a paper clip in there to by pass the fuse in the broken holder. I replaced the holder & the 1 Amp Fast Blow fuses blow. When I disconnect the game PCB the fuses do not blow, but when it is connected they blow.
The board was converted to Pac-Man Plus & the daughter board was no longer secured & was hanging just hanging by it's ribbon cable & had knocked off the Sync Bus which was hanging by what was left of it's zip tie. So my first plan of action is to convert it back to Pac-Man because 1. It's in a gorgeous Pac-Man cab & 2. I prefer working on them without the daughter board in the way.
My question really is if I should be looking for anything specific that could be blowing the fuse? I imagine possibly a short or something with the edge connector, which appears fine but I haven't had a chance to look at it closely, but wanted to know if it could possibly a certain component at fault or if maybe it's the caps. I have already tried searching for someone with a similar issue but every other "fuse blow" issue I find is a different set of fuses.
