Pac man anniversary cab- Color problems- Degaussing not working

Hi, I just bought my wife a 25th anniversary 19" HOU pac man cab, and when it arrived the colors were off tremendously.. I figured it just needed to be degaussed, so I got a degaussing ring and ran it over it and it didn't work.

One of my local tech's mentioned spinning the machine while on, and that changes the colors as I spin, and I can get it to about 80% normal, but the color is still off. If I spin it in one direction it gets worse on one part of the screen, and if I spin it the other way it goes back.

Any ideas on how to fix this? I am very frustrated.

Thanks!

Degaussing didn't work. Apparently this was sitting next to a washer/dryer in a guys garage prior to purchase, and he didn't disclose the problem to me.. had it delivered and this is what I am facing.

When I turn the machine while on the pattern shifts on the screen, and will almost do the same thing as I rotate the machine.

Frustrating as hell. I bought this for my wife for an anniversary gift, and this has been a turd in a punchbowl for sure. Absolutely amazing.

Does anyone have any idea on how to fix this?

Geez that sucks! That sure looks like a degausing problem to me?! Your degausing coil is def working? What kind of monitor is in it?

Check and see if the ring is plugged in to the chassis. If it is, unplug it, if it isn't, plug it in.

When you use your ring, too, do you go down the side of the machine with it? A lot of people only degauss from the front, it often does a much better job if you use it on the side of the machine!

Is there anything next to the machine that may have an EM field?

Are you using the ring properly. Make sure you keep the ring on and make circles starting at the monitor and walking backwards until there is no visible effect on the monitor.

If degaussing didn't help it is possible the yoke has shifted or the purity magnets are broken (missing) or out of adjustment.

The color shifts across the screen when I move the machine.

Does anyone have a pic of a yolk or can I post pics of my monitor so maybe someone can tell me if it's shifted... I'm a newb at monitors and don't know what I'm looking for.

Thanks in advance! Trying to salvage this machine before I decide to dump it as my wife (this was her anniversary gift) has gotten a little frustrated with this and I'm trying to keep her positive with my hobby....

It is possible that a monitor bracket or something metal in the cab has become magnetized. Remove the monitor from the game and see if the issue resolves. Also, it could be the location you have it in also. Try moving it to a different side of the room. That worked when I had an issue with a 4900 being stubborn about degaussing a while back.

Your probably already aware of this but you can also try rotating the machine. I have a new happ monitor that only looks good if the game is facing south.

If you can manage to find a place in your home that works this might be a simple soltuion.

have you tried a handheld ring?

that would be the 1st thing i do before i start messing with the neck

That info was in the first post. In the second sentence.

If a manual ring won't degauss it, the frame is probably slightly magnetized. You said it was parked right next to a washing machine? They've got a large AC motor in there, it would be just like degaussing with an electric drill, except always on!

Huh

I was wondering myself why every reply was already an answered question. Most likely the Monitor frame has become magnatised. Degouse the sides of the cab as suggested and then do the front of the tube. Like previously mentioned, the yoke could have slid back but doubtful.

I can attest to the idea of moving the cab to a different location, but most importantly, leave it where you want it to be and turn it on/off a few times every day and it should get better. That solved the issues with both my Pac and Galaga G07's. Both were very rainbow-ish and degaussing just moved the colors around, didn't help.

I've also noticed on my Galaga that turning it on when it's tipped or turned or whatever, then moving it into position makes the problem persist. I stopped moving it from it's spot, then turning it on. I only turn it on when it's parked.
