Pac-Man (and the like) edge connector

Which ones are those?

I have the 09-50-5245 and 09-50-5255's now -- 48 and 50 pinners that are often used in Gottlieb pinball machines.
At the request of a few video people, I tried to buy other sizes such as 09-50-5185's and 09-50-5285's (36 and 56 pinners) plus a few other sizes... They only sent me a handfull of connectors for these sizes and said - "That's the end".

According to my sources these will still be available. The lead time will be 3 to 4 weeks, and the minimum buy will be crazy high. Anywhere from 3000 to 20K pieces.

Who would these be made by? And from whom?

Someone in the past said you can you get exact copies of these Molex connectors from Asian suppliers. I have a few here which came from JAMMA harnesses they're pretty much identical, the molex crimp pins fit them the same way.

Bummer that Molex eol'd them :(

I've looked on and off for those.....never been able to find any.

Same here...unless you wanted to pay $35 each for them!
I finally found some 100 pin pc tail for the card rack in professor pac. Im going to order a couple cases of them out of Bulgaria.

Is it the same pc tail connector as Gorf, Wizard Of Wor, etc? (I've never seen a Professor Pac pcb). I wonder if they'd have the 72-pin pc tail connector used in Midway Space Invaders? I can't find that one either.....well, without a mass quantity minimum.

Edward

Molex, by special order from Molex.

Ed, do you have any 36/72's?

Nope -- As of Feb 26th, Molex no longer accepts special orders on these. Believe me... I tried a few days after they hit last time buy.

Largest I have are 25/50's.

Yes, they are 100/200 just like gorf. The hardware is pretty much the same as gorf although the boards on professor pac are alot bigger. I think the ram boards in gorf use a smaller connector and PP uses all the same 100/200.

So do these edge connectors break, go missing, or just burn up that often? I mean I've seen my share of connectors with wires cut, pins broken, but that's all easy repairs.

Well on professor pacs they had a battery on one of the boards. When it leaked it got down in there and corroded all the edge connectors
.

Oh yeah, the best I've ever been able to find is at Mouser......the minimum is only 205 units....and it'll set you back a hair over $700!

Edward

If everyone pooled some money we could go in on them to meet the minumum. I wouldnt mind having a few on hand for qberts and I do get requests for them time to time. I think 200pcs would go pretty quick, there are a ton of qberts out there.

I'd be willing to throw $100 at the cause.....I just can't see me ever needing more than 25 (give or take). We'd also have to order the Amp pins....I haven't checked their availability.

I have found the connectors (30/60 amp) for under $3 ea, but I can't seem to find to the damn pins that are not gold costing anywhere from $0.38 to $0.98 ea.

Going to call the place on Monday if I can remember.

Yeah, I can't find the tin pins anywhere under a minimum of 60K....that's almost $10,000!
