I am a long time lover of Pac Land. Yesterday, I was inches away from buying a really nice one (ebay) when I suddenly realized that it had buttons (to run) instead of a joystick. I grew up in the UK (now live in US), and all the ones I played as a child had joysticks. I had never seen one with buttons until now, as I looked at a few others scattered around the internet/country I noted that they all had buttons, and the guy I was going to buy from said he had never seen one with a stick. Are there any with joysticks over here?

Even though I've decided that Pac Land without the stick just won't work for me, I can't get that lovely machine out of my head. I am wondering if it's atall possible to convert buttons to stick without breaking the bank? I wish money wasn't an issue, but I already have to factor in shipping the machine 1000 miles to me. Has anyone done this? Am I insane? Could I just buy parts and do it (I am as technically minded as my username might suggest, rodents are not best known for there electronic savvy)? Or should I just let this one go?

Thanks much in advance, and hi! I'm new, this is a very nice forum! :)

The game came originally with buttons. The games you played in the UK were most likely conversions that already had a Joystick installed. Converting it would be really simple as far as the wiring is concerned but you'd have to plug the additional holes in the CP, and it you wanted it to look good you'd need to replace the cpo.

Happ electronics sells black hole plugs but I am not sure you'd be happy with the results.

I have never seen one with a joystick. If you get it I will buy the yellow plastic "diamonds" that are under the buttons.

I used to play this at Aladdin's Castle in Lincoln Mall. that one had a joystick.

Aladdin's Castle was pretty rad. where the hell did the last 20 years of my life go, seriously.

'bout 10 bucks.

Really?! That would be great. Could you perhaps point me in an appropriate direction? I saw some joystick parts online, but it was bulk order only. I need a little help (I've never done anything like this before)

Thanks :)
