Was wanting your guys opinion on outrunners. Is it any fun? What does one of these go for fully working? Thanks for your help and opinions. :)

Outrunners is super cool, like a mult-player outrun and you can choose different teams/drivers instead of just the original 'Ferrari guy' and his blonde. You can even change the 'radio station' as you play for different music.

But be aware it is a gigantic cabinet.

The only 2 I've ever seen sold were basically given away, as parts broke and the Ops didn't/couldn't fix them. Not a lot of people have the room for a cab that big.

Does the bottom of the cab have at least wheels to move it around easy or not? Thanks for your input. :)

I was just watching one on ebay that was listed for $0.99. Ended up selling for $102.51. That thing looks like a beast and from what I was told the seats come off but it doesn't break down anymore than that. Don't know if it has wheels or not, I never made it that far before deciding not to bid.

The one I saw had wheels. It was trashed and we parted it out... a bitch to take apart. Yes, the seats come off and are easy to move, but the rest isn't. I don't think the main section comes apart. Imagine two gigantic 25" monitor cabs side by side, that's the size of it. Really unsuitable for home use unless you have a ground-level garage game room with plenty of space. I pity the fool who puts one in a basement!

ok so whats the average going rate for one of these in nice shape with everything working? My man cave is in my double garage so no worries there.....

I have one for sale with recently capped monitors working 100% for $500.

The parts are worth that alone as Japanese guys tend to love that stuff. My plan was if I couldn't sell it ever to part but I've never offered it up for sale.

The large marquee also detaches. (and eats up 8 x 25w bulbs
plus a 4 foot fluorescent lamp but looks damn cool)

It's not a "serious" racing game but it's very fun.
It also has handicapping for two player games.
You could sit at the starting line for like 20-30 seconds
while the other player drives and then catch up to them
really fast, it's almost comical and surprises the other player.

There are also subwoofers in the seats.
The radio display LCDs are sometimes fried and
the ignition key often needs new springs but
otherwise it's build quite solid.

I have this monster in my basement. One of the favorites of everyone who uses my arcade.

I have been trying to find someone who is parting one out and has the plastic dashboards. Mine are not cracked but have a ton of cigarette burns.

Yeah its between Outrunners or a couple shooting games that im debating on getting....the shooters are Area 51 Site 4 and Terminator 2 but I think im leaning on getting the outrunners. Dont have space for all of them.

It is one of my grails, but I can't get one because of the issues people have described here already - no spot for it that doesn't involve stairs. It is a monster twin cab that does not come apart, but apparently removing the control panels takes a significant amount of weight off. I'd say it's a $500 game AT MOST - more realistically a $200 - $300 game in the condition they are usually in (in addition to to being difficult to sell due to the size).

One day...

Its one of my all time fav games, I have a few parts and the pcb (many thanks Vangoosewink), there is an upright version as well. 2 cabs which can be used together or as one standalone. The 2 cabs and Sitdown share 1 pcb for both screens/cabs.

There is a guy in the states (I am in the UK) actually selling one at the moment, he has listed the pcb, but says he has the full cab which he will part out as the monitors have gone iffy, so maybe do a search on there and you might be able to score the cab from him or parts if you are looking for bits.

There used to be a couple in the wild near where I live in the UK but both have gone over the past 3 years. The cabs never sell for that much, as size and replacement parts make it hard to sort them out.

I have a pair of regular outruns. I'm trying to get that PCB. Please don't bid against me.

OK, pitch that idea....

I managed to get the one that was nearly given away... Supposedly working but missing both monitors. Some blown speakers... cutout wood ... messed up steering wheel on one side. It's all fixable if I can find some parts.

One key thing missing before I even start putting it back together are the monitor harnesses.

There's a short monitor harness missing that goes from the monitors to the main harness. I'm missing the sections for Video and power. Can anyone please take pictures of which ones they are... I want to make sure that I try to replicate getting the right sections when I make replacements... if I can't get a hold of the originals that were there.

The game is beautiful. It's 2D as the original OutRun but made in 1992! Great sound the setting is amazing.

The thing is: It's a multiplayer game. Purely. It isn't very interesting in 1P mode, the game is designed for racing.

Does anyone have this twin cab where they can shoot me a pic of the power harness where it goes to the monitor and also the video connectors here onto the sections that plug into the monitor. When I make my replacements I want to make it look original.

this is what I have for the video section.
