I got my new Outrun home but where someone had installed different monitor(s) the power supply wiring is all hokey. The main cord goes down into about a 18 or 20 guage wire. The black wire in this connector goes straight to the bottom right post on the line filter. The brown wire goes through one of the fuses then to the bottom left on the filter and the switch has been cut out altogether. It has a computer monitor power connection clipped on the line filter that will be coming off. Also how was the switch wired in? Since I dont think they would be powering the whole game through these 2 little wires, what is the wire connection for that has the brown and black wires? I looked in the Sega manual that came with it but their manual is useless. Could someone help get my wiring straight. Thanks

And what was attached to this velcro above the tie strip here. Some of their add on's?

Not sure which manual you've got that's useless, but I recommend this one:http://arcarc.xmission.com/PDF_Arcade_Manuals_and_Schematics/Outrun Upright Manual.pdf

A few pages from the end is a nice wiring diagram. Top left corner shows the power input.

Sega wiring codes are as follows:
Code:
0 = NO STRIPE (as 2nd digit)
1 = RED
2 = BLUE
3 = YELLOW
4 = GREEN
5 = WHITE
6 = MAROON
7 = ORANGE
8 = BLACK
9 = GRAY
A = PINK
B = LT BLUE
C = BROWN
D = PURPLE
E = LT GREEN

S = small gauge wire
L = large gauge wire
J = jumper wire

The switch with the wires cut off inside your cabinet is the original power switch. As shown on the diagram, it's a single pole switch, so only 1 leg of the AC power does through it. It's push-on/push-off. Yes, all of the power for the game goes through wires (the ones that went into the swtich, that have been cut off).

Let me know if you have any trouble making sense of the diagram. I can pull out my OR and take some pics.

Oh, and I have no idea what the velcro was for. Mine doesn't have anything there, nor anything else in the cab supported by velcro.

Ah ha, I have the same manual but the wiring diagram is not there. It's in rough shape and that page must be torn out.

So it looks like the Black from the wall (hot) changes to red then runs through the switch then changes to Maroon (looks brown) then through the 5 amp fuse then to the line filter.

The White from the wall (neutral) changes to Black and goes to the line filter.

This is my first Sega machine and I did not want to release the magic smoke. This is also my newest machine year wise. The rest of my stuff is from the 70's.

Joetechbob does that look like your picture.

Thanks everyone, that is exactly what I needed. If y'all ever need locksmith advice, be sure to hit me up.
