I have been working on an Outrun project and came home with a Turbo Outrun project yesterday. I don't ever recall playing Turbo Outrun but Outrun is one of my favorites. I would like to keep both but really don't have the room. If you had a choice, which one would you keep?

Keep em both.....make one nice machine out of the two, because the boards are swappable.

But to answer your question, Outrun is the better of the two..in my opinion.

I love Turbo Outrun. The race against your competitor added a good challenge, the turbo made it feel a little like Chase H.Q., the weather looked cool, and I like the fact that cars get wrecked, and then you have to negotiate their carnage. :D

Ill never understand why most Outrun lovers simply hate T.Outrun. I love them both..they are completely different games...I guess the Outrun only lovers wanted the same game made twice???

Besides the gameplay differences, and the turbo button, is everything else the same? I did not pull off the Turbo's CP so I don't know if it has the shaker mech but I do know if it is there it is not working.

Turbo Outrun was a grail for me until I played it again. The bad part about it is that you race on a set path; the original would let you choose a path which helped replay value. The continue feature also means that it will be beaten with enough quarters and little skill. I'd stick to OutRun, Hang-On and possibly Super Hang On.

Hang on vs. Super Hang on could be a whole new thread, I have a Super Hang-On and don't want a Hang-on so that one is settled in my mind at least.
But as for Outrun, I just tonight got to play my first game in ages and now the reasons I wanted one have been validated. I really enjoy this game. Now I have to get the TO working so the kids and I can duke it out with both of them side by side.

Get a minty fully motorized Outrun sit-down and you won't need to worry about Turbo Outrun.

Sell them both and make room for Outrunners.

Ha! Best response yet.

I'll put it like this: I like both, but in order for them to be equal in my mind, the turbo would have to be a sitdown while the original be a standup. Otherwise I think the original wins.

Both have great soundtracks and if you love late 80's graphics, well, they come standard.
