I got a standup arcade outrun and want to convert it over to a turbo since i have a sitdown deluxe. i know the conversion back in the day for the machine was to simply put turbo sickers over the original sideart. i have acess to the turbo stuff. what i would like is some good quality sideart. anybody know where to buy them?

do any come up on ebay? the price for two sideart pieces is the price i paid for the machine.

Exactly why I never bought artwork for mine. I paid less for my machine than what the art costs. The upside to this would be if your cab is in really nice shape and needing no other work the art would be worth it. A nice working Outrun can easily sell for $400 regardless of sideart condition from the many sales that I have seen.

has anyone tried a local print shop to see if they could print a reproduction of it if you provided a good enough image with proper dimensions?

I sent them a clean vectorized image to 3 shops and they quoted me close to the price of buying it from game on grafix so it would'nt be worth it for me.

sohchx> do yo uhave that image with dimensions? i have local shop that may come in at a very low price. i wouldn;t mind trying them and if things pan out i'll get you hooked up for your unit.

your best bet is to suck it up and pay for that artwork print. if you get it done locally, they will print it with a solvent printer and the colors (the bright reds and blues) will look slightly washed out compared to the offset prints they are (hopefully) selling from that one website.

If you don't spend a lot for the game in the first place, that should leave you a little cash left over to get new artwork. If you spent a grand on the game, would it then be acceptable to drop a couple hundred on artwork? I never understand that mentality.

Find a nice one and spend more, or find a beat one, spend less initially but then spend more to get it nice. The side art is pretty sweet on this game.

spyridon> since you live close to me next auction your invited to come down with me.

as far as prices are concerned i am converting it to a stand up turbo outrun anyways. now i am going to get the cabinet up to 100 percent minus the artwork. i could understand putting the money into quality graphics but its just not feasable at this time for me. plus the fact that i am doign it and then slapping a turbo sticker over that i have to take into consideration. the local outlet near me does quite a lot of commerical jobs and applications and from everythign i gathered they have the proper setup to produce a quality product. all i would need to do is provide them with proper measurements and the best image i could find.

once again i don;t want to offend those who throw down money to completely restore them but i have to believe that there are companies that could come in a little better on prices. thats not saying i won;t buy from that game graphics site. its just at this time this is how i want to handle my restoration of this particular machine.

Just be careful when comparing silk screened work to ink jet. In this case, the Outrun art is ink jet and not available screened, so yes, you can probably get it done just as good locally (although the vendor in question does do nice work). In the case where screened art is available, there will be a big difference between what your local shop can do and what is being done by the screen printers.

I'm guessing no, but is there such thing as an NOS set out there? If so, this might be worthwhile for Rich to scan and print solvent inkjet, as needed.

Exists

I know the red stripe decal exists as there was one on ebay I missed out on a couple years ago. Haven't seen any since though...

th elocal guy came in at a rediculous price. so i'll be wiaitng for some nos pieces to come up. as for the red strips i am goign to paint them on once someone can get me measurements as to how to seperated the strip lines.
